What's the lowest SAT score you've ever heard of...

... a non-legacy, non-athlete getting accepted with?

Just totally curious. Not going to apply by any means, but Princeton sounds awesome, and I was just wondering. My own SAT is a 2210, which I'm sure many people here would look down upon, and yet sadly it is probably the highest point of my student stats.

Again, not going to apply, I'm just wondering. Thanks.

(P.S. While you're at it, what's the lowest GPA you've ever heard of as well?)

Ok, I know with of MIT and Harvard admits with <1900 SAT scores.

2210 should not be frowned upon and I'm sure it isn't by most reasonable people.

600.

No joke.

I know this one idiot from my school who got into Princeton with a 1350/2050.
She was valedictorian and really rich but not the brightest bulb in the box.

They took her instead of my brah who has a 1590/2300 last year, he's partying it up at Duke though, so he doesn't really care.

i love people who use the word brah

Brah.................

I know Rockefeller's grandson got into Princeton.

I know he was not very smart.

I'd guesstimate around ~800 for him (only two sections then).

But I can't confirm anything.

600? (Drops mouth to the floor.)

"My own SAT is a 2210, which I'm sure many people here would look down upon, and yet sadly it is probably the highest point of my student stats."

Actually, a 2210 is probably just good enough. Generally, once you get 2200 and above, SAT scores become less of a factor; put it this way, the 2210 will not be the reason you get rejected (or accepted). There are many more factors than just test scores.

I know a kid who got a 1590/1600 but was ranked something like 75/499 in his class and still got accepted. I don't know what is gpa was exactly but the class rank gives a pretty good idea. Anything is possible.

600... are you serious...? O_o There is no way that could have happened... S/He must have been like a trillionaire + star athlete + a pygmy or something crazy. I'm just kidding obviously, but that is just plain jaw-dropping.

Peytoncline, I guess you're right about my SAT score, but as I said, it was pretty much the highlight of my profile. My friends just tell me I have a knack for standardized tests, since I got that score without studying, and similarly got 5's last year on AP exams. I don't mean to brag, I'm just saying that my SAT isn't characteristic of my overall performance and capabilities as a student in the traditional sense. :P To be honest, I'm not sure what I'm doing on the Princeton board at all... I was just curious about the subculture among the smartest students in the world, and so decided to venture here for the heck of it. You all seem like nice people. :)

That guy with a 600 must have been a pretty sweet brah to get into Princeton..

i'm lovin this 174IQ partier from NJ. one love

i think he was kidding about the 600................

um yeah, sarcasm FTW. Unless the kid with a 600 got it on purpose to show how well he knew the test haha

I’m afraid that many of the anecdotes related on this forum are unreliable. Here are the actual admission statistics for the Class of 2012. No one with an SAT score under 1500 (on a 2400 scale) was offered admission last year. You had about a one half of one percent chance of being admitted if your SAT score was between 1500 and 1690. If your score was between 1700 and 1890 your chances rose to 2.3%, still very small but there were some.

At all private schools there will always be a few students who are accepted in part because they are development cases, that is, children of incredibly generous alumni. Many of these will still have good GPAs and test scores. Princeton and other competitive schools worry about accepting students who they believe are unlikely to be able to keep up academically with their peers. Most of the students with very low SATs are likely to have been admitted for other reasons. These will often be students from disadvantaged backgrounds who made the most of the academic resources available to them and showed great character.

As those are the statistics for Princeton, do you by chance know the lowest SAT accepted for Duke this past year?

I don’t know true this or not, but a friend from my old high school claimed that he read that a fairly decent/average student applied to Princeton as a joke. On his app, his response to an essay prompt titled, “What has your greatest academic epiphany been” was “I haven’t experienced one yet, so that’s why I want to go to Princeton University.”

I found it hilarious and everybody I tell LOLs as well. If this is true, that brah was a genius, so he’d fit right in at Princeton! ;)

PS: I know that this is an old thread, but since somebody updated it I just had to share :P!!!
