and still get an 800 on the Writing section?

uhh, i'm not sure what the lowest essay possible is, but my friend got a 9 essay and ended up with a 790

Oh, OK. Because I went to this SAT prep place and took a practice test, and they said I got an 800 on the Writing, but I am pretty sure I can't write an 11 or 12 essay! And they didn't tell me what I got on my essay.

Thanks, though. Anybody else know??

"but I am pretty sure I can't write an 11 or 12 essay!"

I am pretty sure you can because it is damn easy, but requires luck. Basically, REALLY good essays don't get high scores because graders sometimes suk, but mediocre ones do if they follow the format.

Oh, ok. I'm not that experienced... I only wrote two practice essays, then did it for that diagnostic test thing. I thought it was a pretty decent essay, but I would have guessed a 10-ish. Nothing profound.

You can do it =).

My friend got a 12 essay, but a 680 writing. If your near 800 you can get a 12 as well.

I hope so. But partly it was because it was a topic that I easily thought of good examples for...

I got a 10 on my essay and an 800 on writing. Go figure.

Oh, that explains it then. I think I could see the essay I wrote being a 10... maybe.

OHMYGOD. I asked the guy at the prep place where I took the test, and he said I got 12 :-O
