Oakland???

The campus of University of Pittsburgh is located in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh is made of several "neighborhoods" or areas. For example, Shadyside is a neighborhood close to Oakland. Shadyside is filled with cafes, shops, restaurants, etc. There are many areas for students to explore and enjoy. Visit the Pitt website and check out the city. It is a terrific college town---Oakland!

Oakland is most of downtown Pittsburgh. Within the immediate area around Pitt is Carnegie Mellon and Chatham College. There are hundreds of little shopws and restaurants. Nearby Pitt is Schenley Park, the third largest city park in the US.

I wouldn't consider Oakland to be "downtown" as it is really more of a college neighborhood than that and is separated from downtown by the Blvd of the Allies and 5th Avenue stretches. When someone says "downtown", I think of the business and cultural districts. I don't even consider the north side or the south side to be "downtown".

But yes, the main campus is Oakland.

Def not Downtown, which runs from the Civic Arena where the Penguins play down to the Point where the rivers meet.

Oakland is part of the East End of Pittsburgh, the largest residential section of the city. East End is home to the majority of Pittsburgh's parks, universities, museums, hospitals, upscale restaurants and retail

sorry, sorry, didnt mean downtown. I dont know, would one consider Oakland uptown?

Pittsburgh is a city of distinct neighborhoods. Oakland is a neighborhood on the East Side of Pittsburgh. The address is Pittsburgh, PA; but locally, neighborhoods are like their own cities.
