What's the mascot of your favourite college?

Even though they probably couldn't win a football game if their lives depended on it =/.

Sooner: When the government was giving out free stakes of land in Oklahoma to those who would settle, to ensure things were fair, stakeholders were to line up and only runt o claim their stake of land once an official fired a gunshot. Those who actually abided by this rule were called "boomers." Those who unfairly left before the shot was fired we labeled "sooners."

yankeegirl- A saluki is a long-legged, short-haired dog, similar to afghan hounds and grayhounds, originally used as a sighthound/hunting dog in Egypt. As far as the origin of the mascot, I had to look it up.

What is it with SIUC and Salukis — Back in 1951, students and fans finally decided they’d had it with the SIUC nickname, “Maroons.” It lacked something. What does a maroon look like? Who knows what it eats? Try writing an ode about it.

They voted for a change, but the only suggestions that turned up in the ballot box were things like Knights, Marauders, Rebels, Egyptians, and a few Eagles. It was no decision.

Merle Jones, Southern Illinoisan sports editor, credited five SIUC coaches with nominating the Saluki as the school’s new mascot. They were Abe Martin, Doc Lingle, Lynne Holder, Bill Waller, and Cecil Franklin.

Who's excited for the Sun Bowl? UCLA is goin DOWN.

Oregon Ducks! Quack, Quack, Quack!!!!
The mascot was actually copied from Disney's Donald Duck, according to Wikipedia.
Why are Minnesota's Gophers and UCLA's Bears Golden? Did someone paint them? Are the school's trying to show that they have strong nuclear science programs? I don't get it. The Ragin' Cajuns are funny too. Hofstra's teams used to be called the Flying Dutchmen untill they had to change it to the Hofstra Pride. Makes them sound like cheerleaders.

The UCLA Bruins are gold-colored because the state of California is rich with gold ore... or something. I don't know, ask UCB -- they invented the color scheme for the Bears and UCLA just copied it sometime later.

All the UCs have Blue/Gold color schemes as far as I can tell. Guess they all copied Berkeley.
