What's the maximum you can miss to maintain...

...a perfect score on each section?

Yes, i'm sorry, I made it look like there's an absolute curve. From what i've seen on CC then...

for verbal u can miss 1 or 2
for math u can miss at the most 1
for writing u can miss 2 MC and get a 12/12 essay, or 0 MC and get a 10/12 essay.

actualy i missed 1 on math and got an 800 so in some cases thats not true ... i took it in may and had the verbal experimental section

The curve varies for each test. What wrathofgod64 said is not true at all.

He(WrathofGod) just said that it was an approximation. And he'll probably be pretty close.

at least we know that, depending on the curve,
for verbal you can either miss 1 or 2 but not 3
for math you can miss none or 1 but not 2
for writing you can miss 1 (for an 80 MC) and get a 10/12 essay if you got 80 MC

This brings up my question: If you miss one multiple choice but still get 80 as a subscore and a 10 essay do you get 800? Or do you have to miss none of the multiple choice to get an 800 w/ a 10 essay?

Stanonia the point is that we do not know that. -3 raw score has been 800 verbal and -2 has been 800 math in the past. Writing has only been administered twice, so we don't really know anything. Your question will vary depending on hte administration, but I think -1 80/10 essay could get a different score than a -0 80/10 essay.

For Writing I missed 3 mc and got 12/12 and recieved a 760, so i dont know that you can get 2 wrong and get an 800..

I missed 1 MC and 7/12 essay and I got 750. Your essay score was 5 points higher than mine and you only got 10 more points than I did. The multiple choice really brings your score down..

So in general, I think wrathofgod has the right idea. I oughta look at the past October curves to see if it's usually harsher or easier than the rest of the dates.

For math, at least the March test, -1 was a 790 :-(

IWTGTSS, in MAY -1 math was 780

I've never seen (or heard of) someone get a perfect math with one wrong. Actually, I'm only taking into account the new SATs and a couple of PSATs.

better mentally endowed? I am just waiting for the day that God smites you.

In the old SAT:

verbal 800= miss 2 max
math 800=perfect

Looking at the 10 Old SAT's book, the most wrong I have seen that still received an 800 were -5 Verbal & -2 Math.

Speaking generally, -2 is the max for verbal and -0 or -1 is the max for math.

On Writing, you can miss 1 on MC and get a 10 on Essay and still get 800.

That's all I kno.

:)

That's what I'm hoping I get on the June SAT, HiWei. I got 80, 7/12 last time.

Yeah I'm sure they use the MC subscore when determining the section score. So the number you got wrong doesn't matter, I think.

akai: "I've never seen (or heard of) someone get a perfect math with one wrong. Actually, I'm only taking into account the new SATs and a couple of PSATs."

I got 1 grid-in wrong on the May SAT and got an 800 on math.
