What's the weather like?

I know a lot of people say that weather stinks in UMich, Ann Arbor . . . how so? Rainy? Cold? Wet?

It’s not really worse than the rest of the Detroit-Toledo-Flint area, but if you’re from a place with nice weather, than the weather is all of the above.

I agree with Qwerty. Also, it can be very unpredictable like last year: It was snowing in April and raining almost every other day in the summer.

^eek :O

This winter was also milder than last year. Overall, the local weather is unpredictable: you can turn on the heat one day and the A/C the next day.

Only one day in April though, I don’t mean to sound misleading. I enjoy the weather compared to California though; it’s good to have some variety and the feeling that comes with the arrival of summer. California is just…one season to be honest.

so your typical four seasons basically? ( except a bit colder in winters and hotter in summers? )

I live like 10-15 minutes away from Ann Arbor and it has the typical, classic Michigan weather: hot in the summer, freezing in the winter, and rainy in the spring. Also, the trees look awesome in the fall.

Yeah, just make sure you have layers to put on because it can be very cold.

I used to envy places like california and florida, but I think having a clearly defined 4 season climate adds variety and freshness to your living. Ann arbor climate is just regular 4 seasons although the winters can feel really long and bitter. Thats the only downside I can see, especially if your used to warmer climates. And the climate here around ann arbor isn’t THAT unpredictable. You will have those funky days where it snows in late march or feels like summer in october, but those don’t happen all the time. It won’t have any major ffect in your daily life.

Its nice seeing the birds fly and trees bud in the spring after a boring winter.

When I was there the temperature ranged from about -23 to 95.

Lifelong Michigander… Autumn is especially beautiful with the color changes. Sometimes it looks like I’m driving through a tunnel of fire.

Pretty much like said - 4 seasons, the Great Lakes gives the entire state (any area of the areas in upper NY, along the NE coast etc.) more days without sunshine, but it’s glorious when the sun is out any season. Alittle over 1/3 of the days each year are sunny.

Does it rain a lot?

It rains a fair amount; sometimes it’s drizzle but sometimes it’s tornado capability storms. It just rains when it’s supposed to and maybe a little in the summer, but not enough to ruin your summer at all.

it was really unpredictable this week.

two days ago it was sunny and warm, yesterday was cloudy but humid and hot, today is humid and cold like Winter

Angell Hall, two l’s. James B. Angell

I live 30 minutes away from Ann Arbor, and yes, you basically get a good mix of every kind of weather. I spent the day out there on Monday and it was beautiful…warm and sunny. Winters can be really cold, but as stated earlier, it’s beautiful in the fall!

These past two weeks have been unpredictable, as many of others have mentioned.

Last week was absolutely beautiful weather… sunny and true signs of Summer-like weather. Temperature reached as high as the low 80s.

This week has been drowsy, no sun whatsoever, and there are spots where it was actually snowing. Today’s high is approximately 45.

But I love Michigan for the variety in weather.

In Michigan you get to experience all 4 seasons…but you also get to experience random weather changes.

Usually Michigan is in the cool side, with very cold and snowy winters, brisk cool springs and autumns, and generally mild summers…it’s sometimes humid, not a lot tho, and the temp usually does not reach past 90’s often during the summer.

BUT we have some strange weather combinations too, so if it’s randomly 30 degress in late April it’s basically Michigan weather, or if you get hail, thunderstorms, rain, and later snow all in one day, and the next day is 60 degrees…it’s also Michigan weather…
