as a christian, currently attending a missionary christian school...i have to agree that BJU is a pretty pathethic...we had a discussion in our contemporary issues class about its inter-racial dating ban that was in effect till a few years ago and even our teacher didnt consider it to be a real good school. yes, i do believe in God's calling, but I still think that BJU is a sad sad university. there are other really good christian schools such as Wheaton, Convenant college etc..

Isn't Brigham Young a christian university?
That school is accredited and is pretty good

We are talking about BJU..Bob Jones..which is a radical right wing Christian school that is very discriminatory, prejudiced, and extreme in their nature.

haha, i live in pensacola

what i find is hilarious is the fact that their students weren't allowed to see The Passion of the Christ.

the only time i ever see them is at bagelheads on sunday mornings. def. can tell it's them, since they're the only one's who wear long jean skirts and long sleeve shirts when its SUMMERTIME in FLORIDA.

hopkinslax-yeah, BYU is a Christian school, along with a multitude of others (Notre Dame, TCU, SMU, Villanova, Seattle Pacific, Azusa Pacific, etc etc.). The difference is that BJU has no accreditation. BYU is accredited regionally, nationally, and internationally. When a school isn't even listed on www.petersons.com, you know it's crap.

People were talking upthread about going to BJU and being like "I wanna go here--but I really care about learning about other religions/I want to simultaneously work at a strip club." Well, Al Franken's already done that; he wrote it up quite hilariously in "Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them." Over-the-top title, I know, and no one'd accuse him of impartiality, but it's still really funny.

About BJU... Teaching creationism in schools? It's a conservative Christian school, it can teach what it wants. Oh, and the interracial dating thing...that was actually started by a Taiwanese person. Funny, isn't it?

I'm a conservative Christian, but nope, I wouldn't go there. Or any heavily religious school that would fire teachers for mentioning the word "evolution", for that matter.

311, that's what I was saying... I was just adding another good christian school on top of the ones that taj mentioned :)

Omg Bob jones University! Before this post I thought it was a made up place..Haha the website is frigging hilarious!

what's the worst NON-christian college? or better yet... non-religious affiliated college?

I believe that Alabama State (or Arkansas State? I saw this on princetonreview.com a long time ago) has around a 700 combined SAT average.

I'd rather go to Hell than go to BJU. As a hardcore agnostic, though, I think I'm safe on that count. Hell sounds like a kickin' party though.

Your local "career college" that is accredited by some made up accreditation, and has a proprietary disposition. Come learn accounting the ads tell you! I hate this, because I'm majoring in accounting at a respectable four year institution. Good thing the career college only graduates 1 year certificates for bookkeepers and not true accountants! ;)

wow at BJU's rules...

they can't listen to contemporary Christian music for crying out loud...you also can't watch movies above a G rating???...so do they send spies out to watch you when you leave campus or something?? I would actually like to go there just to disobey rules and see what would happen lmao...

that's just ridiculous...

You think that's sad...I know people who want to go there.

I know people who applied there early.... and I live in New York City.

USC is by far the worst school in the country. scratch that, the world

^^Umm, Mormons are Christians, so I don't see what you're taking offense with?

z2thay needs to back off of USC if he knows what's good for him.

LOL, mormom? What's a mormom? Yes, BYU is owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, which, along with its members, is also nicknamed "Mormon". However if you pay attention to the real name of the church BYU is affiliated with, you can easily identify it as being a Christian (defined:Relating to or derived from Jesus or Jesus's teachings.) school.
