whats this deal

i dont get why ppl think that chicago isn't selective

i got admitted as a freshman and as a transfer

but u guys have to realize, how self-selective the pool is here for chicago students

Test Scores
Middle 50% of
First-Year Students Percent Who
Submitted Scores
SAT Reasoning Verbal: 680 - 770 85%
SAT Reasoning Math: 670 - 760 85%
ACT Composite: 29 - 33 40%

from collegeboard.com

those test scores are HIGHER than UPenn, Brown, Cornell, Columbia College, Northwestern, Gtown, same as Wash U, and 10 points off Dartmouth

so who cares if it accepts more students, the caliber of student applying is so tremendously high, i dont see what difference it makes

g bye

I for one don't care about uchicago's high acceptance rate..=)
go maroon!!!

It's because you have to be smart to apply here. Dumb people dont know enough about this school to care (and wouldnt want to go here anyway) but I know people who had trouble getting into the flagship state university who actually sent an application to Harvard. For them it was a waste of money but for people of slightly higher caliber where there is a miniscule chance, they still do it but they would never apply to chicago.
