What's this "UC GPA"?

I've never heard of it until I read it in these forums, but it's supposedly the GPA of a student's sophomore and junior years.

Is this GPA weighted or unweighted? Is this the GPA that UC's look at? If not, then why do they even look at it in the first place?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, the UC's use the GPA. Yes, freshman year doesnt matter. And before you ask, it was kinda weird- some AP's count, some grades don't...etc. By dint of the way that you compile that GPA, it is weighted. Some classes get more weight in the system, so its like how your hs weighs things, but not quite. Suck it up and calculate it. Mine was higher than my actual one.

You should go to UC's "Pathways" site and start doing your research for admission as you will find most anything about the admission system explained on the differents sections of that site: http://www.ucop.edu/pathways/

The GPA is sophomore and junior year grades for core subjects and is weighted but via a weighting system used by the college regardless of one used by high school.
