I know it's early, but after reading a couple posts of what others got in the June SAT's everyone is like "OMG I didn't break 2200. Got to study for the retake!"

Okay maybe a little too much there, but still.

What schools are most of them applying too?

What type of kids are usually on this message board?

Are they the Harvard/Yale/Princeton type kids who are like in the top 5% of their class?

Cause if it is, then I don't need to worry, but still.

It seems to me that it could be a LOT worse, trust me.

Ivy league or MIT Stanford

Kids who care more ( the ones who wake up at 4 am to see scores care more and probably did better)

Sometimes

I agree with the last statement but it’s always like this.

Also I’m retaking a 2200. Cause I went 630 got CR. So sometimes it’s because they effed up a section

I don’t know, I’m really really really happy with my score (2220) but then I read people’s and it’s like, “2240 ■■■” or something and its annoying because when they complain how *ty their score is it makes mine look *ty too :/

I know somebody who got a 2350 and went up to this girl who got a 2400 cold and told her “I WOULD KILL FOR YOUR SCORE!!!”

needless to say, that person is insane.

^ lol i would do that

It would be understandable if it was the last possibility of taking the SAT, but with 3 additional chances to take I don’t understand the frustration. I got 2140 and will definitely retake because I will apply to the HYPS (even though I don’t expect acceptance). :)

ohh puhhhleaazeee… meeekkkk so full of it

I KNOW! I took the test in March and I got a 2000. I was so happy that I actually broke a 2000, and I was so proud when I went to school. And then I go to school, and my friend’s totally upset that she got a 2290. And she’s like, “Oh GOOD JOB! you did good :)”

@pigsatsea
haha. I didn’t quite get that.

^why the heck would you say that you’re not expecting to get in if you obv care about your sat score
you prob won’t get in now cuz u said that

Everyone has their own “starting point”, and their own goals. Some kids do want to reach the top. While I hope their intense effort doesn’t negatively affect their lives…I also applaud those efforts in working hard to reach that goal. It’s important to want to do your best…but equally important to not just accept, but be happy with your results. If you’re a 500 SAT test taker…good job if you did your best. If you’re a 600,700,800…same answer…good job if you did your best. Of course the score is very important to some people in their future plans, their college expectations, their economic outlook. But it’s also being a “bad sport” to complain about your score. YOU earned it. So whether it’s a 500 or an 800…“own it” and be proud of it. Or work harder and try again if you want to increase it. But complaining online serves no positive purpose that I can discern.

it’s unrealistic to expect to get into those schools…

ok so then if you’re not expecting to get in, then why APPLY? common sense
do you have no confidence at all?

I’m not really sure. I’m quite confident in my capabilities but then the HYPS are like a heaven to me, which is unreachable. Then again I don’t exactly not expect to get in but do I hope. If I get more than 2200 in October I might start to expect (realistically) acceptance at an Ivy.

Yeah, I think it’s just a matter of doing your best. Just because someone’s upset about their high score doesn’t mean that your score is bad.
The first time I took the SAT I got a 2090 and I cried because that’s just terrible for me (the college board is being a b*tch about the manual rescore, by the way).
Apparently I made everyone feel bad with their 1500.
It’s not the score that matters; it’s that I didn’t feel this showcased my best effort. Ya dig?

ok so then if you’re not expecting to get in, then why APPLY? common sense
do you have no confidence at all?

i’m applying to harvard, but i don’t EXPECT to get in. I HOPE to get in (Even though it’s not my number one), but to EXPECT them to accept me is just insane.

EVERYONE has a slim chance at HYP. That’s just being realistic, and shouldn’t discourage anyfrom applying. Nothing to do with lack of confidence or whatever.

so you’re gonna say that you don’t expect to get in? shame shame

ok the fact is, it’s better to be cocky because cockier people live happier lives =]

It’s like saying I don’t expect to be president. Is it really better to say I expect to be president?

^why, are you running for office? no

are you apply to HYP? yes

gettt someee selffff confieeeedenceeee
