what's wrong? high stats but rejected..

I don't know what's wrong..
I have a weighted 4.2 and a 1460 on SAT's..and i'm involved in school clubs as officers and other activities..i volunteer and i had a summer job at a lab, but i got rejected from ucsd and ucla..and other friends with lowers stats than me (and they don't specialize in anything like sports or dance) got in! Would i still have a chance at berkeley is ucsd and ucla rejected me? i'm so worried..

I'd say somebody like you has about a coin flip's chances at UCLA, Cal and UCSD. LA and SD both flipped against you, but you should still have about a 50% chance for Berkeley. Good luck.

It is surprising that you were rejected at both. While your GPA iis often seen at those schools, your SAT score isn't. How were your essays?

You should have a strong chance at Cal if nothing is awry with your app. What's your major?

A lot of the times, having high stats isn't enough to get into a school. Colleges take a lot into consideration, including the college essay. Btw, I'm sorry to hear that you didn't get in.

Probably the essays or the recs.

Not the recs - there aren't any for the UCs.

Are you sure your gpa is exactly as they would calculate it? Sometimes students weight their grades differently than the UCs do, and it causes confusion. Did you have ample community service? That seems to be an important component for those who are not disadvantaged in some way.
Also, did you apply to at least four UCs? Their website says that 90% of applicants who apply to four get into at least one. I think that's becasue they each have a slightly different approach as to how they weigh each component in your app. You might try calling UCSD (see other thread on this) and listen to what they say - you may consider appealing the decision if you have the right stuff, but perhaps didn't present it in a way that they could see that.
Good luck - the UCs are getting really hard!

UCSD is definitely not on the same playing field as UCLA or Berkeley. If you get rejected by UCSD, then...

I'd advise you to start writing your appeal letters.

ridiculous..appeal swhitdeer. No offence or anything, but i think ur essay......yea....but appeal.

Unless your rank is not top 20%, its crazy.

Admission to top universities are never guaranteed. They deny/waitlist as many kids who look just like you, as they do accept. Look at their admissions statistics.

what were your safety schools?
