I don’t get why so many people are disgusted when they hear 6th college? Can someone please clarify why people are getting bad connotations when they here “6th college”?

I think there's just no one on this site who actually goes to UCSD. So we're worried just based on what a few people have heard about sixth. Maybe there's nothing wrong with it at all.

I got accepted to UCSD and all I got was this lousy acceptance to 6th college.

:(

^what the hell are u talking about? u know that u could choose which college in UCSD u wanted when u applied in november.

Yeah man, I know, haha. It was a joke... lighten up buddy.

it has no name (lol..yet)? i don't know.

lol, i read somewhere one of the suggested names was Leonardo Da Vinci College...it has my vote...sounds AWESOME!!!

there's nothing wrong with sixth college. people talk crap about it just bc it's the newest one. just because they haven't named it yet doesn't mean that it's bad.

the freshmen dorms are called camp snoopy because they look like military barracks. they look kinda like log cabins. and you get a lot of raccoons at night--- man-eating raccoons. some people like it though- it's kinda cozy, in a way. also, you're the closest college to price. the cafeteria- Foodworx, is not great, but you get over it.

the only reason you get 6th college, if it wasnt your first choice, was because people heard that it was "bad" or something and thought that they should put revelle first because it's the most prestigious college. soo everyone and their mother put revelle as their first choice and some of the excess goes to sixth. well that's a bunch of BS. especially because Revelle kids have it the hardest, in terms of GEs and all the nerdy asian kids go there because their parents told them to put revelle as their first choice. so, it's also retarded cutthroat competition. i mean, that environment works for some people... sixth college students are normal, too!

they just make fun cuz it's the newest college, but no one here really cares so just go to ucsd and make the best of whatever college you're put in =)

i'm a nerdy asian kid! (more nerdy than smart. :P )

but I didn't put revelle. :)

I think Earl Warren was my 1st choice though. Sixth was either my second or third choice. It was hard trying to decide which colleges to put in order (or at least for me). They all started to sound the same to me.

Go Sixth!

I thought Sixth college sounded cool. I'm happy! and excited!

I think they all have their pros and cons. One thing that's nice about Sixth I think is that because a smaller percentage of the student body is housed there, you'll have a stronger, more close knit group. I am in Eleanore Roosevelt and, while I very much like the ideology of the school, it is in the frigin boonies! Very removed from all the other colleges.. so I mean no matter where you go there a downsides. I guess it just depends more on personal taste.

Im into sixth and probably going there and that makes me happy :). All this junk about sixth not being that great is a bunch of codswallop (that word makes me smile).

By the way, are the "dorms" in sixth suites that hold 10-11 people in them, and if thats true, do they only have suites or are there dorms too?

Some basics on what your room is like:
http://sixth.ucsd.edu/index.php@opt...&Itemid=39.html

I also got into sixth too. I don't think UCSD had enough information about the 6 different colleges. During the UC application process, I had to stop and research the schools (didn't find much). There was such a lack of information...not even my counselor knew much about the different schools.

But I made my choices based on the feels I got from what UCSD had up on their website. Sixth seemed more up-to-date/21st century-ish which is why I went with sixth as my first choice.

so i just found a great website, just google "ucsd residence hall rate saver" (won't be what your looking for but its the one i used to find it) and then there is amazing info on everyting you ever desire for housing

My d talked to a friend of hers tonight online. He is at UCSD in sixth. He says that socially it is really improved this year. His feeling is that Muir and sixth have the most "normal" students. Socially he is having fun at sixth; though he says don't come to UCSD looking for an exciting campus. This is the best endorsement she has heard of sixth though. LOL

Ouch ><

now i feel a little better about 6th

yeah-yuh. Sixthers! Class of 2010! I'm excited!!!

I like how the >< you made kind of looks like the x in sixth...clever. And sorry if you did not like the information; I was just passing on what my D's friend had said. She (my D) was actually encouraged by his endorsement of the normal students and fun at sixth. I meant it to be good news, but everyone needs to be realistic about what each school they are considering is like. My D is now reconsidering her decision, sort of... We are both just a little concerned since she is a very lively and outgoing person. She wants to be in a fun place with lots to do. This is a very difficult decision. I really wish you all the best, and hope that each one of you is happy with the choice you make :)

Actually >< represent eyes. Like let's say you eat something sour...then you would make those kind of eyes. Just a little emoticon thing.

But I'm glad to hear that sixth has the most "normal" people, lol. The reason I responded to your post the way I did was because that piece of information was the "best endorsement" you guys have heard so far. But anyway, thank you. I hope you are happy too!!
