What's wrong with a little party?

I've seen a couple threads from people who won't give schools a chance since they think it's too much of a drinking/partying school. Well, in the words of Andrew W. K., "It's time to party!" What do you think is the best party school?

My vote goes to good old Penn State.

Vanderbilt…beautiful women + top-notch academics + socially balanced = Heaven

michigan state

it’s definitely up there on that list 2332

vanderbilt has more social balance than a scale with a witch on one end and a duck on the other

+the beautiful women and top-notch academics as aforementioned
it’s a tough one to pass up

But at Penn State, everyone is always drunk so it doesn’t matter how good looking anyone is.

Beer goggles can be detrimental the next morning. I’d take the schools with the hot girls so its a non-issue.

Let me clarify. By always drunk, I mean ALWAYS drunk. If you have a hangover and are regretting what you did the previous night, you just pour some whiskey in your cereal and you’ll be feeling better in no time. That’s the Nittany Lion way!

Florida State and Arizona State… Those folks know how to party!

I hear Indiana has quite an awesome scene.

Schools where u could find some awesome parties (prolly off campus given the great metro locations): BU, BC, NYU, GWU, American, USC, UM…

I personally really like parties, but you have to keep in mind that everyone has different tastes, and big party schools aren’t for everyone. Some people prefer a quieter atmosphere.

That said, any D1 football school is going to have a solid party scene.

It’s also fair to acknowledge the fact that there are different types of party schools. There are the traditional frat house/beer pong party schools (such as big 10 schools, as well as schools like Lehigh). Then there are also party schools that are more focused on hip city nightlife (such as UMiami).

What are some other schools that have great academics and a good party scene, like Vanderbilt?

i’m not much of a partier but i’d never rule out a school because of it… haha i’m leaning towards lehigh!

Us Floridians know how to have a good time…

Florida
FSU
UCF
Miami
USF

Duke Dartmouth Penn and Princeton all have solid social life with drinking opportunities and are top notch academically, among others

ya penn parties actually arent bad despite being an ivy league school. they don’t even charge for entry/beer which is pretty cool. better parties there then drexel.

but best is penn state. whole other level.

University of Illinois ;)

I echo Duke, Dartmouth, Princeton, and Penn for having amazing social scenes and top academics. UNC is also amazing socially.

What about UVA? Great academics obv., plus I heard it has a pretty big frat/party scene.

Wisconsin and Michigan are ranked high and have big party scenes, although UW might be slightly bigger. Michigan’s is still pretty good though, Greek scene and house parties, along with lots of bars in the awesome college town of Ann Arbor.

you guys should check out theu.com, it’s free to register and it has all kinds of short videos for different schools, including the party scene.

The movie Animal House was modeled after Dartmouth.

Yes, Wisconsin has a good social scene without dominance by frats or any other group. The student union is a real central gathering point unlike at many schools where it is empty at night. Also everything including about 60 bars/clubs are in walking distance so no worry about drunk driving.
