Whats wrong with socialism?

socialism is a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole.

Whats wrong with socialism? sounds great to me

Nothing is wrong with socialism in theory.

Except that it doesn’t work in practice.

it works perfectly. look at spain, france, canada. their medical system is far better than the states

Read Animal Farm.

To some extent. Canada’s medical system is great, being free and all but waiting lists as long as the Brooklyn bridge just for an MRI?

And Animal Farm and 1984 are probably two of the only books that i’ve actually read and liked.

I was talking about pure socialism. None of those countries are completely socialist.

Democratic Socialism.

Nothing works in pure terms. And this free market economy won’t survive in a globalized world. Socialism FTW.

Oh, and yes Canada’s system isn’t great but it’s sure as hell better than ours. I just paid $120 to go to the doctor to have her stick a q-tip in me. And I HAVE insurance.

Socialism is fine.

Except that socialism-wannabes-ending-in-disaster-and-corruption is not fine.

So we should just take away all the rich people money who worked hard to get it and give it to the poor people who didn’t work hard. Sounds real fair.
And what is wrong the healthcare system?
I have full health insurance.
So because someone is a crack head we should give him tax payers money to give health benefits because he can’t afford to buy coverage because he has know job? And if the 40 year old mother and a criminal are waiting for kidney transplant and the criminal is first on the list and the woman dies waiting?

Sounds like a good system?
I don’t think so.

Socialism has shown itself to always result in disaster and corruption…

Actually now that I think about it if you want to know what’s wrong with socialism ask someone who lived in the USSR they’ll tell you…

I’m not really seeing Canada and Australia in disaster and corruption…

^ They aren’t socialist nations

@ Soccer-

…whoa…be careful right there. Who do you think you are to be able to call everyone unfortunate enough to be living in poorer conditions than you some lazy squandering pig? That’s a very ignorant and arrogant thought, and I’d rethink that if I were you. Some people, unlike you, don’t have the luxuries and good luck your family may have had. Not everything is split so easily. :(

I’m all for democratic socialism.

I’d rather have to wait in a long line for service than not be able to afford service at all.

True they are not pure socialist governments, but they do have a lot of socialist government systems.

Ditto. That’s not to mention that poverty is a cycle and that social mobility is limited. Plus, what about all of the lower-income jobs that society needs to function? I’m not talking about hamburger flippers. I’m talking about teachers (the ones who AREN’T paid well), social workers, etc. Those people may love their jobs - and they provide invaluable services - but they aren’t being paid very much.

romanigypsyeyes:Would have rather waited 6 months to get a check up?

What if they found out you had Herpes. It would’ve been, i just payed $120 to find out i have Herpes and payed another $200 to get it treated immediatley NOT I just waited 6 months to find out i have Herpes, now it has developed into a Simplex II vira, and have to wait 2 months to get it treated.

The 6 month waiting list are almost universally debunked.

Animal farm is fiction! I’d like to see some actual stats on Canada healthcare.
The few friends I have in Canada are happy with their healthcare. Yes they have to wait on some things but we typically have to wait on procedures on this country
