What's your Academic Index (Poll)?

<p>guys, this academic index is bull...I hope you aren't putting too much stock on something that only counts for less than half of the app process (I think the dean says it was 40% at most). Plus, it doesn't take into account school competitivness and weighted GPA scales, so don't stress out</p>

<p>My academic index is 223/240 or a 7/9. What is the purpose of this academic index anyway? Does it have anything to do with admissions?</p>

<p>The whole weighting thing doesn't make sense to me. Why would it be weighted if availible? I would think there would have to be two systems, one for figuring it out with weighted GPA and one without, because here are my AIs:
235 with weight
230 without weight
and just for curiosity's sake
217 with rank
218 with decile
219 with quartile (notice a pattern here?)</p>

<p>I'm curious though, my school gives general ranges for the GPAs (i.e. it tells the schools in the school profile sheet that x amount of kids get between a 3.7 and a 4.0, x for 3.4-3.7, etc.), so would a school figure out the decile/quartile or just use GPA for a system like this (I know it's outdated)?</p>

<p>yea its obiovusly nothing great guys...im a 7 with my rank and a 9 with my GPA...thats not cool cause then people whos school doesnt rank would get an advantage??..doesnt make sense</p>
