What's your favorite EC?

I'm a good student and I try to be involved in extra-curriculars, but I feel like I'm not enjoying them as much as I should be. A lot of times I sign up for things because they sound interesting, but then get stuck with them because I don't want to be known as a quitter.

Example: I was in band, but quit because I honestly didn't enjoy it. I was in choir, but the director was so incompetent, I couldn't stand him or his biased policies.

I'm thinking about volunteering with the local radio station, but I mean, what if I don't like that either? What extra-curriculars do you absolutely love? I'm not looking for something to get me into college, but something I'll enjoy occupying my time with.

If you don’t like EC, why not try a hobbies? Like skateboarding, painting/drawing, or anything outside of school.

Oh, I do! I crochet/knit, and dabble in piano, but these are both solitary activities and I’m trying to ditch my reputation as a loner.

Key Club is my favorite!

I know my school has a branch, but as far as I know they don’t actually /do/ anything… What do you like most about keyclub?/What do you guys do?

Well, one thing that comes out of trying a lot of different activities is that you find out what you love doing and what you don’t love doing. Keep on trying different things and joining different clubs. Sooner or later, 1 activity will match your interests.

Band, especially marching band. I’ve participated in some other extra curricular activities, but band is the one thing that I will have done for all four years of high school, both marching and concert/symphonic. I’ve made loads of friends in band, and my fondest memories from high school lie with marching band. Who doesn’t love losing their Fridays to football games and Saturdays to competitions until almost December? I know I do. :D

And just keep trying different things. I promise you that one will click with you soon enough.

This year I was elected President as our previous one graduated. Needless to say our club accomplished nothing last year and had about 20 members that showed up whenever. In fact, we had about 2-3 service activities the entire year.

I revamped the club and we have about 55 dedicated members now and have had over 15 service activities so far. I guess what I liked most was being able to bring back a dormant club into something that is now well recognized in my school, just that satisfaction can’t be beat.

This year we’ve participated at the Senior Prom for Senior Citizens, did a Storytime with children at the library, painted at a women’s shelter, ran several canned good drives, sent cards for troops and brought back a toy drive that was otherwise going to be cancelled due to a lack of donations, just to name a few. As you can tell, I’m really passionate about it lol.

I would say Orchestra- I plays the cello- but it is an Electives (but it could still count for college xD )

U-nited
S- tudent
B-Body

(Student Gov’t; our’s actually does work.)

Cross-country. You will meet the nicest and most genuine people ever. And most schools have a no-cut policy because it keeps students in shape so anyone regardless of ability can run. Trust me, the friends you meet will far outweigh the pain running (which you eventually begin to enjoy).

BASKETBALL. This is honestly my favorite sport. I have been playing since 6th grade an am really happy because I feel like I’m steadily improving. I went from having usually no points and very little playing time to getting around 8 points and being a sophomore varsity starter. Wait. I WAS a starter but then my coach benched me because I had ONE bad practice and then permanently benched me because I “played so well off the bench” >.< But let’s not make this into a rant because then I’d talk for ages. My point is, try something you may not think you will be good at because you honestly never know. Good luck in your quest ! :)

FIRST FRC robotics competitions! :)
