yep i have read a lot of her books but only one of them really did something for me: along for the ride. I also read the Host and loved it! i don’t think its really a guilty pleasure though, why would it be one?

I didn’t know Along for the Ride came out already??!! I just requested it from my library :]

The Host is a guilty pleasure because Stephanie Meyer is stigmatized in the literature community. She is not a good writer, but I enjoyed The Host nevertheless.

^You don’t think so? I think she is ok, and I’ve read the whole Twilight series and The Host:)

I think Stephanie Meyer is a great writer but everyone has different styles of writing that they enjoy

I couldn’t read Twilight. I thought her writing was very poor.

I used to read Sarah Dessen a lot when I was younger, but haven’t in awhile. I’ve noticed all of her books seem to have jaded female protagonist meets optimistic go-lucky male, male woos female, female reluctantly gives in, female is less jaded, happily ever after ensues.

^Haha, I have to agree with that. I read the series a while ago so my opinions might be different now. Luckily, I’ve found some new books recently:)

Honest to God, throughout most of middle school I read the entire Redwall series at least 3 times.

I’ve read every single book by Tamora Pierce and i’m not ashamed of it.

I used to read a lot of Sarah Dessen. Some of my friends still do. I haven’t read one in awhile. My sister, however, picked up a book by her that I read awhile ago; Dreamland.

I also read the books by Jodi Picoult. :> I think my favorites would be My Sister’s Keeper and Nineteen Minutes.

I think that this post needs to be revisited:

Something is very, very wrong if you must feel like a dork reading Harry Potter

^ I 100% agree Sirensong, I was going to reply to that too. HP is not an embarrassment, it’s a masterpiece! I think it’s definitely shed its bad rep as a kid’s book after the 6th and 7th books, it’s so much more than that. 'Kay, HP-orgasm over, lol.

And not gonna lie, I do like Twilight, but in my defense, I read the books my freshman year (I’m now a senior) so I knew about it waaaayyyy before it became crazy. And I used to suggest it to everyone or talk about a part and people would just shrug it off, who’s laughing now?! And anyways, I don’t like it so much anymore just because it’s gotten so huge, it really is a turn off and I’m just like, shut up everyone, you only like it b/c of Rob Pattinson who is ugly btw.

My sister loves Twilight and thinks Rob Pattinson is the best actor alive. I must disagree.

I read the first book, Twilight, and it was okay. I also read the last book, Breaking Dawn, to see what happened in the end. I skipped the other two because I thought they might be unnecessary. Personally, I don’t like Stephanie Meyer’s style of writing. I don’t think it’s very good. And Bella is kind of annoying.

^I agree actually. I’m no way going to say it’s terrific in anyway whatsoever, but it’s a nice light read for pleasure and I think that’s why the author wrote it the way she did (very informal). Like a chick flick, those never win Oscars but it’s a nice escape for a while.

I am ashamed to say the Eragon series are my favorite books

I loved the Redwall series too :)

same, I am a sucker for fantasy

Banner Year.

Classic literature sucks. Reading it is like castrating yourself over and over again. I prefer to enjoy what I read, so I have no qualms about indulging in things like Harry Potter, etc.

I never read Twilight, I have the book but struggled to make it past the first four or five chapters, but did hear that Bella gives birth to the loch ness monster in one of them.

How does vampire + human = loch ness monster?
