What's your minor?
Does a math minor help you in any possible way for medical school?

I suppose if you take a lot of Statistics courses, it has direct applications to clinical research (planning clinical trials, interpreting results) and epidemiology.

Music or chem. Chemistry includes all the chem courses I would need for med school. Music is just fun. :D

If I could change one fact about my undergrad, it’s the fact that even though I will have the coursework for both a music and chem minor, I only get to declare one of them. Boo.

^ Lame…

I’m a Biochem major right now. Technically biology on biochem program of study, but I call it biochem.

I’m thinking of minoring in math, but I don’t know yet. We’ll see.

MATH It only helps me become a better critical thinker. Since I’m naturally weak in math, it will not help the pre-med GPA, whatsoever.

Music, because it kept me sane in college and gives me an outlet in med school. (along with rugby)

Music also kept me sane in college. I took guitar lessons for credit (and stress relief). It was really fun.

Statistics is a pre-req at some medical schools, but don’t think that a minor’s going to help you or make you stand out during the application process. As long as your grades are good and you appear to be taking academically rigorous courses, adcoms really don’t care about your major, your minor, or how many you have.

We have maybe 3 minors at my school, so I am double-majoring in Biochem and English. English is just for fun, really – I don’t foresee it being much help with med school applications.

It’ll help you with that CR section of the MCAT, which is brutal.

D. said that her stats has helped her a lot understanding her previous and current experience in Med. Research Lab. Her comfort level with math has helped her in Gen. Chem. and Physics classes. She has never liked math and it has been very easy for her so far. Her passions are music and Psychology. So, she has 2 minors so far. If she graduates with both still remains to be seen. She is not falling behind though. She is not doing it for resume. Music classes have been very relaxing. being away from tough major classes actually helps her. Psych. has been a great passion which was enforced by volunteering at Crisis Center hotline. She also enjoys all neuroscience classes.

I believe anything helps if you are actually very interested in subject. Doing it for application purpose is not worth it.
