What's your reading speed?

How many pages do you read a minute?

It depends on the book- if im interested in the book, its pretty fast

Same as 13lueflame, if I'm interested, pretty fast.

How many minutes per page though?

I never knew people calculated that.

well, I mean, how many seconds/minutes does it take you to read a page?

I've never timed myself, but I will try it and let you know..if I ever get around to that. Wouldn't it be more accurate to do something like words per minute because pages can vary in length. How many pages do YOU read per minute, just curious now.

Beats me, but I was by far the fastest reader in my class. Kinda sucked though, because when we did assignments, I couldn't nearly as many answers from them as they did from me.

average speed is 300 wpm, this is if you're kind of reading the stuff in your head, if you can eliminate this voice, you can achieve much faster speeds.

I got over 100 pages per hour the one time I checked (average sized hardcover, smallish font), but it depends on how interested I am and how much I'm paying attention.

edit: I read a 650-page novel in six hours, so that's just over 1.8 pages per minute.

How can you guys read so fast? lol. I saw an advertisement for this software that helps you read faster.

Like.. I can read fast enough, but how you read that fast? Any tips? Do you guys actually remember the stuff you read? lol.

I've been reading since I was really young (before I turned three), so I guess I've just had practice... I've definitely never used computer software or anything.

i agree with camelia: i started reading at 2 and a half, and started reading chapter books at age 5, so i spent most of my childhood reading reading reading reading reading reading (you get the point). thats the main reason why i think i can read so quickly now (i can pretty much scan a paragraph in a few seconds and get the main idea), with the exception of highly technical readings that require a ton of attention. the best way to improve reading is absolutely to read as much as you can. start reading one book (or article) at your normal pace, then reread it- your eyes/brain will become accustomed to read at a faster than normal pace.

I've always read much faster than most kids in my classes. I agree that speed does come with frequent reading. I also have found that people who actually enjoy the reading tend to read faster.

I'm the opposite of 13lueflame. When I'm interested in a book, I tend to read slower. I am already a slow reader, so this makes me take weeks to finish a book. I usually read a minute per page, if it's not a textbook, then it goes up to 3-5 minutes per page.

i read really fast, but i don't read everyword.

you guys are all leaning in the right direction but ... fundamentally MTL07 is the one who is right.... when you read... schools teach you to read each word separately.. i was reading one book that states that 90% of your reading time is spent moving from one word to the next.. meaning that your eyes dont need time to read the actual word... they just need time finding it... soo if you train your eyes to read faster ... by forcing them to... you'll eventually begin to comprehend more at that higher speed.... initially however wehn you do this you will read slower... honestly, what helped me the most was reading a Speed Reading Book up at Barnes and Nobles.. haha and not buying it... they say that the average person can read between 1500 and 2000 words a minute.... but most read about 250... its b/c of that "Voice" in your head.. you need to become visual readers and not auditory...

I do not read.
