1) Gay Marriage - support

2) Birth Control - support
Abortion - Don't like the idea, but it's a woman's decision, not the government's.

3) Affirmative Action - seems unfair, but I'm an URM, so it's hard to form an opinion

4) Stem Cell Research - support

1) definitely for, gay couples deserve all the legal rights of heterosexual couples. However, I do believe that any church, synagogue, mosque, etc. should have the right to deny gays a religious marriage ceremony (of course, if the pastor, rabbi, imam? is ok with it, then by all means go on). The state should perform secular marriages.

2) pro-choice pro-birth control sex ed (as opposed to abstinence sex ed) With regard to pro-choice, I see many people who are pro-life saying that people should take responsibility for the baby, well what about being responsible enough to know that the life that this future family will lead will be a terrible one, and not allowing it to happen?
Parental consent: A minor should be allowed to have an abortion, and then after it is done, the parents should be notified.

3) Ridiculous, get rid of it

4) Marijuana: I dont think we should legalize it yet, what needs to happen is it needs to be reclassed so that research on THC and marijuana can be done in labs.

i actually thought of a great idea to settle this gay marriage debate....

have the present situation of what marriage defines. have the government hand out civil unions. this will be the equivalent of the present marriage definition, but without the "marriage" title.

then have churches perform marriages, which will just be like a title.

get it?

If it were that easy, homosexuals would be getting married in more than a handful of states - protestors of gay marriage don't even support the "cival union" idea.

1) Gay Marriage- support.
2) Birth Control- support; Abortion - support.
3) Affirmative Action- against. early education reform would be a better option.
4)
-Stem Cell Research- support.
-Marijuana- support.
-Iraq- against.
-Genetic engineering- support.
-Physician-Assisted Suicide- support.
-Illegal Immigrants working in US- against. should obtain visas/citizenship the legal, normal way.

gay marriage-STRONGLY against (is this what our children will be growing up with? Gay couples? Gay teachers? Gay President?, Gay Children??!; i wouldn't trust a GAY/LESBIAN daycare instructor with my children)
abortion-unaffected
affirmitive action-don't care

evolution: against

thesloc: r u a hardcore conservative?

Why would I support gay marriage? What IF your children became gay, would you support THEIR gay marriage? If the majority of our generation continues to lean toward same sex marriage support, what will become of us?

IcicleRose88 - IT DOES NOT PROTECT AGAINST AIDS/HIV OR ANY OTHER DISEASES!!!

ok, i really wanted to get that out there becuase there's a lot of false info going around and i really want people to be educated in those things.

1.) Gay marriage - Against. Marriage is between a man and a woman. I'm for civil unions, so that retirements and legal stuff is still tranferrable to someone's partner or significant other. I'm against the church being for gay marriage.

2.) birth control, abortion

I'm for birth control. I'm against abortion. It's against the law to kill, period.

3.) affirmative action

I'm not sure. I'm in-between.

4.) any other topics

Gun Control- If you blame guns for killing people, blame my keyboard for typos.

Pardon my rare stupidity, but can you elaborate on that?

oh, no problem. its just that these days, people are pressuring the church (i.e. the catholic church, presbyterian, baptist, etc.) on switching to the "modern times" and accepting gays/lesbians/bis as candidates for marriage and church positions. i'm a really religious person (PLEASE no religion debates, i will not answer you) and i don't believe that the church should give into the pressure, that's all

civil union is ok for gay couples, but not marriage.

birth control-yes, no one should interfere with somebody else's choice

affirmative action- it should go away eventually and give preferential treatments to the underpriviledged kids (economically)

illegal immigrants- against although i know they work their butts off... because allowing illegal immigrants send a bad message to legal immigrants that their efforts and etc to get citizenships/green cards do not really matter after all....

stem cell-yes... everyone whos against it will change his/her mind when one of their associates gets lou gherig's disease, for example

war in iraq-against it but the reason i cannot say "no" firmly is because i cannot say that saddam is a harmless guy... hes a tyrant and a killer

1) Gay Marriage: For, because no one has the right to dictate the lives of other people.
Note to Harvard Wannabee: Actually, your idea might soon be implanted in Alberta. Our Premier (and presumably the majority of the province) is strongly against gay marriage, so if it's legalized at the federal level, he has proposed that the Alberta government will only perform civil unions (Marriage licenses are performed at the provincial level in Canada). Also, the same-sex marriage bill in Canada gives religious groups the right to refuse to marry gay couples if they don't believe in it.

2) Birth Control/Abortion: I think we should leave it up to the mother to decide, but perhaps let the mother know what other options there are (ie. adoption)

3) Affirmative Action: I think it should be based on socio-economic status rather than race. I'm a visible minority myself, but I would rather know that I got into a college/a job because of my merits, not my ethnic background.

Well,I'm not catholic or none of that. I'm seventh-day adventist.

1.) Gay marriage - strongly in favour.

2.) birth control, abortion - Pro-choice. And birth control is just being sensible.

3.) affirmative action - depends on the situation... if it gets more people from lower-income brackets into college then it's a very good thing.

Others? I'm liberal, left-wing, very much anti-Bush and Blair, anti-war, against capital punishment, against the legalisation of marijuana but also against the US's draconian punishments for minor drug offenses (simple possession etc), in favour of universal health care (like the British NHS system)...

How many of you people that support same-sex marriage are actually gay/les/bi?

capital punishment- against. isn't that just let them get out of it anyway?

affirmative action- ok... I still don't know about this, but if the true reason behind it is because people of colored races suffered in the past then I am against it. I hate how you can't be white- skinned to be persecuted or enslaved or anything like that.

umm...you're kidding right?...

Frankly, I don't think that our society would be able to function under a 50% homosexual population. It'd be hard to imagine.

That's not going to happen. At the very most, 10% of the population has homosexual tendencies. The human race is not going to die out because of gay people, sheesh.
