What's *YOUR* take?

I'm debating over whether I should apply to Stanford or not. My GPA's decent, good ec's (many clubs and officer positions, but nothing like... ltg or national super sport star or anything), above average essays (for UC apps), and.. well, these scores

SAT i: 1230 (march 04) --> 1480 (nov 04)
(would the increment help?)

SAT ii
680 Writing
690 US History
700 Math iic (retaking in Dec., likely to score higher)

Thoughts appreciated =). Cheers!

its a super reach

Go for it. It's a reach no doubt, but I know a girl who had a lower SAT score that got in. Just try, even if you fail, there won't be any "what if's" lingering in your mind.

Your chances aren't good.. but then again, whose are?!!? It's worth a shot, but don't hold your breath... =)

Thanks for your honest replies. I appreciate it =).

I'm not going to apply because I haven't requested any recommendations from any teachers yet... that's not good =X... haha.

Have an awesome week. Cheers!

All you did was tell us your SAT scores. There is SO much more to the app than the SAT scores! A "decent" GPA could be 3.3 UW or 4.0 UW. Your ECs could be very typical and uninteresting, or could show passion and dedication. Your recs could be typical or a couple "top in my career" recs from well respected teachers. Your SATs won't keep you out or get you in.

go for it. just so you know.. but none of us should be expecting acceptance... but what have you got to loose (besides 40 bucks, lol)

40 bucks??? I spent 75 dollars!

marlgirl is right. For the majority of schools, don't let your scores (SAT to GPA) hold you back from sending in your application

ur SAT1s are great. ur SAT2s... are not so great. but. apply anyways! scores mean jackshizzle anyways.

It can never hurt, you definitely have a chance, I applied early and my stats were not THAT much better than yours (Same SAT 1 score).
