My dream schools always been UW Seattle, yet although I've worked hard I feel like I'm on the border between acceptance and rejection. I was considering applying to Bellevue College if I don't get in but fear the social embarrassment. The friend circle I've associated myself with has always been very ambitious and are likely to get into top universities. Should I go to safeties like WSU or WWU and try and transfer from their to UW or attend Bellevue College and transfer from it because the transfer rates are higher? If you in a similar position what are you considering doing?

1st of all, try and not care about what your friends think. You need to do what’s right for you, whatever that may be.

2nd, it’s easier to transfer from a community college (in state) then another 4 year university. Also, community colleges are 1/2 the price and the education is just as good for 100-200 level classes. I’ve said it before and I’ve said it again…while I love uw-seattle, my favorite all time teacher is at seattle central community college.

Since Bellevue college recently turned into a 4 year institution that is offering bachelor degrees…i don’t think (but i could be wrong) that uw would consider it a community college transfer now.

p.s. I think going to Bellevue College would be less humiliating then going to WSU. But really, others opinions shouldn’t factor in. Just do what you think is best

Thanks for the input, I’m gonna look into whether UW still gives precedence to Bellevue College. You may be right about WSU. I wouldn’t be any more impressed with someone going to WSU than Bellevue College.

Think about it this way. Let’s say it boils down to WSU or Bellevue College.

You want to go to UW.

If you go to BC, you’ll have a lot easier time transferring to UW. Who cares about what other people think? You’ll be a step closer just because of how transferring works at UW at BC than at WSU. :)

If you go to WSU or WWU you are in for a lot of trouble. I went to WSU for 2 semesters, told it was impossible to transfer, am going to CC and it is easier with similar education if you are in your first year or two (for gen eds)

Also ask yourself if you would be happy in Pullman. Many people love it, but it is not for everyone!

Thanks, I think you guys are right. In the long run BC seems like a much better option.
