You seem like an awesome candidate, but I have to say your test scores will hurt you. A 1900 doesn’t bode well for your chances at Yale, Columbia, and Dartmouth.

Amherst College - reach
Carleton College {Did the “Taste of Carleton” Program} - a bit of a reach
Columbia University - reach
Dartmouth College {Dream School :-)} - reach
George Washington University {Potentially} - match
Northwestern University - a bit of a reach
Occidental College - match
Pomona College - reach
Stanford University - reach
Swarthmore College {Did the “Discover Swarthmore” Program} - reach
University of Chicago - reach
University of the Virgin Islands - you said it’s your safety, so.
Vassar College - reach
Yale University - reach

Maybe you should set your sights on slightly less selective schools? You’re only applying to two schools I’d call matches, which may turn out to be a bad decision.

Thanks much. I will look into applying to some less selective schools as well. I was hoping my URM hook and ECs would make up for my abysmal SAT scores. XD

Your ECs are very good but maybe not at the exceptional level you need to compensate for scores and GPA that are relatively low for many of these schools. You might get a couple of acceptances; then again, you could be shut out of most, with inadequate aid offers from the rest.

It can’t hurt to aim high but I suggest you look for more “target” schools similar in selectivity to GW and Occidental (universities and LACs in the USNWR 25-75 range). There are many excellent schools in this range. Some of the LACs in particular would welcome more applications from outside the continental US. You have until January 15 at some of these schools, or as late as February 15 at a few.

not trying to be racist but since you are black, that is a plus in the admissions process as you have a hook (URM)

you applied to a lot of Ivy League and Top-15 schools in National and Liberal arts schools, these schools are crap shoots for everybody and reaches for everybody so you never know

I would say your chances are slim at Stanford, Dartmouth, Northwestern, Columbia, Amherst, Yale. The rest I don’t know much about, so can’t chance you at those.

Why:
Your SATs are a bit low unfortunately, but I think you should be able to get them up to 2000-2100 considering your GPA and Essay contest. How many times have you done the SAT? What are you Subject test scores?
Also, your ECs seem a bit generic, and their isn’t really any focus. However, their is a good level of leadership!
Your essay seems way too long. Risk is that the admissions officers don’t bother reading it all. You should have stayed under one page. Considering what you’re writing about and what you wanted to convey, this shouldn’t have been a problem.

You’ll probably get into a few of the schools your applying to, but probably not the top ones. But who knows - if you’re essays were great and recs were stellar, who knows!

I’ve taken the SAT twice now. The second time the only thing that went up was my essay score. I’m retaking the subject tests in January because my first go at them was mediocre as I had not prepared beforehand. Thanks for the chance! I’ll chance you back.
