When and How can freshmen choose housing?

Hey, does anyone know how to reserve the on campus housing?

I haven't receive any email instructing me how to do with the housing choosing process. ( btw, i'm an international student, so maybe I havent received the mailing information, idk.)

it seems guys are finding roommates on facebook.... i have no idea how to start on housing...

The freshman housing questionnaire becomes available to all enrolling students online in early May. The Welcome website will transition to an enrolling student site at that time and you’ll be able to complete all required forms including the housing forms at that time. Students are certainly welcome to find roommates on their own or be assigned them by Residence Life.

You don’t have to reserve housing; you are required to live on campus. And don’t worry about people choosing roommates on facebook. This is a new chapter in life and is full of uncertainties, so I understand why people are trying to take control of some aspects by trying to choose roommates on their own. However, the college has plenty of experience housing freshmen. It will be fine. As W&M Admissions said, you’ll fill out a roommate questionnaire online in the next month or so, and you’ll be matched with a roommate this summer. In my family’s experience it worked out great. My S, a freshman, decided not to room with his high school friend because S wanted to expand his horizons, so he filled out the questionnaire and took his chances. It worked out so well he’ll be rooming with his freshman roommate again this coming year. There will be a slew of deadlines to meet this summer, not just with the roommate questionnaire, so you are right to stay on top of things. If you feel comfortable choosing a roommate on facebook, fine, but don’t worry about being left behind; there are hundreds of incoming freshmen who aren’t on facebook choosing roommates. What an exciting time for you!

thx for the reply! it’s really helpful!

No problem. Just be sure that post May 1, you’re logging on to the welcome site regularly (which will become the Tribe Guide site) and checking your W&M email regularly so that you do not miss any important deadlines.
