When and how many times you correct FAFSA?

Hi,

I just realized that I entered taxes I already paid in 2008 on FAFSA for my son. I owe some more when I file the return later this month. Should I go back in and add to the amount the taxes I owe?

We did get an email that FAFSA was processed... Is it okay to update / correct FAFSA now OR should I wait till I file my return and then make all corrections.

How many times you can correct FAFSA?

Thanks
Ravi

You can update your FAFSA at any time. The better the info the school has, the more accurate your award will be. If you make changes that change your EFC, your financial aid awards can change.

I've worked with students who have corrected them 4-5 times. On the FAFSA website when you sign in, there will be different versions and they will be dated. I think one just clicks on the version number--the hot link for it was not entirely obvious--but you're smart, you're going to college, you'll figure it out!

NOTE to all--it's important that the FIRST version you do, has a date that meets that early financial aid priority deadline!!

Old post but I’ll respond for others’ future use. There is a limit. I updated mine several times and was told I was nearing the max allowed. Maybe about ten times?
