when and what to take for r and c requirement

some say its good to take first semester bc it prepares you for other classes when it comes to writing and what not, but should and must i take it first semester?

what are interesting/relatively easy A classes and what teACHERS do you guys rec? should i wait a semester or two for a particular teacher who will make it interesting and wont make it so hard to actually get an A?

what are the german and slavic lang ones like?

It's a good idea to get the RC requirements out of the way since they're in high demand b/c practically all students have to take this requirement. The RC budget is also being slashed due to finance problems, so class offerings are supposed to go down.

So the earlier you can fulfill them the better. There's no rush, but it's nice to have this requirement done with.

For easier classes choose ones that don't have the words "rhetoric" or "english". German and Scandinavian have large amounts of A's. German R5A was really easy w/ Banwell... 95% of the class received A's and I really liked the theme of the class. There's no midterm, no final, but a moderate amount of reading that's reasonable.

Difficulty really depends on the teacher... so I'd check pickaprof.com and ratemyprofessor.com for reviews and opinions.

*easy class=popular class... German R5A completely filled up completely in phase I

Just to throw this out there, you can waive the second half of your R&C requirement by "demonstrating effective english skills", in my owns words. You have to go through a process and do some write-ups. Don't know much details but I know it exists.

im still trying to decide about the r5as

any more input?

thanks for the responses

take scandinavian. i heard that it is easier on average. i personally haven't taken the r and c reqs yet and im going to be a junior. take it asap to get it out of the way. I regret putting it off for two years.
