I am coming to NYU this August. And I am wondering when/where would be the best time/place to shop for books. I won't arrive at NYU till the move-in day and that will leave limited time to get ready for class. I know those books on the list could be bought online/offline in NYU bookstore. But are there any other ways to buy them at a bargain price? For example, from amazon or some other online stores.

Any suggestions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

You don’t need to buy books till after the first day of classes because some professors might tell you that some aren’t required. However, if you wait that long, there is a chance you won’t get them in time (if you buy from Amazon and other third parties.) Amazon has a lot of good deals but they’re quickly running out since everyone’s buying them already but it’s up to you on when to buy them.

Buying used from Amazon is 99% of the time your best deal. If you go that route, it might be best to get them early because the used stock will deplete fast. You can also try searching eBay’s used books, and finally, check out NYU facebook groups as us NYU students are trying to get rid of our old books.
