When applying, how long before something is irrelevant information?

I’m a transfer student looking to transfer to UofM. I graduated high school in 2017 and have been in college since then with two gap semesters. Could I still list clubs I was in during high school or do admissions officers not care about that at this point? I’ve been in a couple clubs during college but they either don’t hold up throughout the year, or just disband. I don’t know what to do to make myself a well rounded person other than volunteer work, so: should I use high school clubs and volunteer work as well?

I don’t think high school clubs matter much two years later, especially if you didn’t continue pursuing them… If you’re submitting a high school transcript, then you might include the ECs that correspond with that time period. If you’re only submitting your college records, I would stick to that same time frame for ECs.

Hopefully you did something useful during your gap semesters. I think that time frame would be more relevant. UM would probably be more interested in that.

Not sure if this helps but the closer to 60 credits the less they look at your high school record. For some this can actually be a positive situation. What experiences did you learn about during your gap year? Maybe a self discovery?
