When are admitted students events?

Does anyone know the dates and format for Pomona's admitted students event(s) in April? Is it an overnight? Is there anything for parents to do? I'm not the applicant - just the travel planner - and I'd like to begin thinking about a possible schedule just in case my son gets lucky with Pomona! Thanks much.

That's an excellent question that I've been wondering too. I was admitted EDII and I wanted to know if I should plan a seperate trip on my own or if there was a designated Admitted Students Weekend or something like that.

Admit Days are scheduled for April 14 and April 21. Admitted students will receive information about overnight stays, which are usually limited to 1 night (either for the night before or the night of the admit day). However, students invited for the MSAP (Minority Student Action Program) weekend have an additional schedule and program the weekend before Admit Days.

oh my god oh my god this just makes me ridiculously anxious to see if i get in... so i can GO to one of these things!!

Oh great, thanks gnatcire! Another question if you don't mind, are the Admit Days only for Regular Decision students, or also for Early Decision students. One of my friend was accepted Early Decision to Bowdoin and the Admit Days are not open to Early Decision students and I was wondering if Pomona had a similar policy?

And what exactly is Minority Student Action Program?

Sorry for so many questions! :)

They are technically aimed at RD students, but there's nothing to stop you from visiting the campus

got it by facebooking pomona class of 2012 XD i hope i get in also :P sounds super fun

We went to admit days two years ago, and my son was an ED admit. These days are usually a time when colleges pull out the stops to "sell" the admit on the college, but there is no reason not to go if you want to join in the excitement.
They schedule classes that the students can visit, and the parents are invited to a luncheon with faculty. I remember sitting next to the prof who just coincidentally turned out to be my current sophomore's major advisor and mentor. Because of that luncheon, my H and I feel we "know" him a bit.

It's worth doing for and EDer if you live close by and can make the trip without too much inconvenience, but don't worry if it's not feasible. The real fun begins in September!

For those folks who can't make the admit days, there will also be receptions throughout the country to which all (ED and RD) admitted students will be invited. An Admissions Office representative attends, so students and parents can get questions answered.

The MSAP program targets minority students in an attempt to diversify the Pomona College community. I am not sure but I think it might also target students from lower income backgrounds. Don't quote me on that though.
The MSAP admitted student weekends last four days(I think, I went two years ago) and there are a great amount of activities planned for the students. The MSAP weekend is a lot like diversity weekends that Amherst and Williams and other colleges hold in the fall. It's a lot of fun and I would encourage anyone who was invited to attend.

I was also invited to the MSAP weekend... I guess because I am a first-year college student. Do people usually spend all weekend (friday, saturday, and sunday nights) there? Because that's what it seems to be implying.
