When are college applications due? (generally, and especially for Ivies) For EA/ED, and Regular? When are you notified if you made it or not?

They are due by the deadline, which varies; research those deadlines yourself. There is no advantage to submitting it weeks before the deadline as opposed to 10 minutes before. Some schools require you to submit your application in early December in order to be considered for scholarships offered by the school (even though the regular deadline may be in January). Again, the release of decision varies for each school. Research them yourself for the schools you are interested in. You will usually find them on the admissions page for each college website.

EA/ED decisions for Ivies are released in mid december. The applications are due in around the first week of November. RD applications are due by the first week of January (generally January 1st or 2nd) and decisions for the Ivies are released on the same day some time at the end of march or very early April.

Likely letters for some schools are also sent out, as early as late january.

I agree with Cortana generally, but I would quibble with the statement that “There is no advantage to submitting it weeks before the deadline as opposed to 10 minutes before.”

I had an adcom at Vandy tell us that if your application is received a month or so earlier, then it can be reviewed more thoroughly than if it is a deadline submission. I wish I had asked her a follow up question about this. She might have said this to make her job easier, but it also seems to make sense. The committees are not traveling after Thanksgiving and they likely have most ED responses completed so they would naturally have some time to get started on the early submittals.

Also, it would be much easier (and less stressful) to resolve issues concerning lost/missing materials if identified in November rather than February.
