out of curiosity, what debate camp did you attend?

AB Duke? I'm so jealous! what accomplishments do you think made you a finalist?

I wouldn't be worried. I'm sure you'll resolve the conflict in the end. Just call Duke and see if they will let you come a day late. Is it a big deal to not take your exam? If it is, I'm sure Duke will accomodate you.

any idea when the bn dukes come?

have they already released bn duke!!

yeah... i got notification for bn duke over a week ago...

are u sure u already got notified for finalist for BN duke??? wow i was hoping i would get that

I doubt anyone has heard about the BN Duke yet. They said they would notify in early March, so why would you have gotten it a week ago?

yea ***!!!!

Can I buy you a drank?

erik pick yo phone up

I got my BN Duke email on Feb. 29th so the person above is not lying.

What are some of your stats?

2210 SAT, 3.9 GPA. My stats are not too impressive, but I'm really kind of active in my school and community, so I guess that counts for a lot. It is, after all, a "leadership" scholarship.

Good luck to everyone!

spiffy are you from NC? It seems like no one from SC has heard yet.

chong are u sure

All I know is that no one I know has gotten it. I really hope I'm right lol....

Is there any reason why they would notify people from NC earlier?

Well I was only notified because I'm a finalist for the scholarship which is reserved for NC and SC applicants only.

Which state are you from?

@JohnC613 - Thanks a lot for your advice John. I will try to persuade Duke to offer me some flexibility, but I'm bot sure if that will work out. And I HAVE to take that exam because it is a public exam over which my school has no control. If I don't show up for that exam, I don't graduate from high school! Silly, but that's the way it is.

As for the factors that led to the interview call, I really don't know. I think I am a well-rounded candidate basically, with good test scores, school record, extracurriculars (math and science olympiads, summer science program, music, creative writing and a host of others), some leadership, excellent recommendations, and essays that I spent a lot of time on (and liked the end product). So, possibly a combination of all of these factors. One of the essays was in verse, and it was a gamble writing it, but maybe it stuck out as something unusual.
