On the Midterm report, do they want the professor's to write in the numerical grade, or the letter grade? Such as I have an 89 in one class, but that is considered a "B".......and it's just one point off of an A, so they might get the wrong impression.

Also, when are the midterm college reports due? On Cornell's website, it says:

All other required application components including official transcripts, Instructor Evaluation, College Officials Report, and Midterm Report: February 15 to March 15. it says that if they are not available by that time, to "send it in as soon as possible".

When would the latest typically be, if they weren't available by march 15th? This basically delays your application right since everyone else's is being reviewed by then?

^— i had the same situation, I called the Cornell about this and they said that they will know if your school use the + or - system. So Cornell does take that into consideration. They also said letter grades are more standard for the midterms soo…

I was wondering this also, since my “midterm exams” are after March 15th… But I suppose I can call them.

Yeah same for me, I have a few right after the 15th, I’ll call if I have time tomorrow and remember, if not let us know what they told you :D

Are you guys going for letter grades on the College Report, or numerical grades?

I’m definitely asking for letter grades, but that’s because right now I’m on the border for a couple, and letter grades would serve to my advantage.

Lol for me it’s the opposite actually, guess it is up to them on what they want
Hope it works out in your way

You too! Good luck… and I’ll call in the morning and hopefully post the answer here…

That would be great if you do XD I’m not sure how I’m going to get them onto a sheet. Guaranteed some of my teachers do midterms and some don’t, since that’s what happened last semester. Except I have no clue how I’m supposed to get my two online-class teachers to sign off on the sheets…guess I have to call/email/schedule appointments all over the place for two weeks, since my other transfer schools wants them too. -_-

^---- Cornell does not accept online classes I believe. I think I found it on their website before, not sure.

^^^^^ thats what they told me too

Actually, I talked to someone about this. They don’t accept online courses that count for less credits than what the course would actually be worth if you took it in person. For instance, if you were to take a math class online that (because of it being online) only counts for 3 credits when it’s usually 4, they won’t accept it. I’m not sure why some schools do that, offer online courses for less credits/don’t cover the same/all material in the class, but yeah.

I’m almost completely positive, since both someone from admissions in an Email and a counselor in my school said something along those lines. When it appears on a transcript from my school, it is not shown that the course was taken online, so it shouldn’t make a difference.

Otherwise I’m going to be doing some extreme phone calls, because my two courses are pre-requisites (Sociology and Writing 102) for CALS, not to mention I’d have just under 30 credits which would put me out…

But both my writing class and sociology course are covering EXACTLY the same things that the professors teach in person and it involves a lot of essay writing, etc. I was actually only supposed to take Sociology online, but they cancelled my Writing 102 course at the last minute and stuck me in a night class which I can’t do given my schedule. So the online was my only option.

Well admissions told me to email the question about dates for handing in the report, and I’m still waiting on a reply, but as soon as I get it, I’ll post it.

“Yes you can send it after the deadline, before April would be best.” is what admissions said.

I guess that means they won’t be making many, if any, decisions on regular transfers/GTs until April at earliest. Oh well, less worrying/more time for my other schools to say yes, haha.

Thanks for the reply philosopher, when do you plan to send yours out? Any idea?

Unfortunately, I think my last midterm is on April 1st, but I’ll probably send it at the end of the month.

Yeah I have to figure it out because the break also comes up sometime then, and I don’t want to wait too long, I should figure it out soon.
