You meant Accepted Students Day for SLC, right, drae? We attended the Purchase day and had a very nice time – wasn’t sure if they were having another, and you were referring to that.

yes…I meant Sarah Lawrence. We’ll visit Purchase on Friday morning. He has been there before but not with as clear a purpose. He will check out the New Media and the Music Production Departments. Those are the areas (in addition to history and writing) he is interested in. I haven’t quite gotten a sense of the students at Purchase. I toured the art school with my older son and got a pretty clear picture of that scene but it was hard to tell much about the rest of the school. We know a film student who goes there and she is very happy…but that is a tiny department. We also know a girl from my older son’s class who is in the School of Liberal Arts and she has not been so keen on the atmosphere and the quality of the classroom experience.

Anyway…If you see a family at SL - short mom, goatee dad and sandy blond, tallish, skinny (with a great smile !!) son. That’s us!!

Oh, great! I will look for you. My daughter has very long, dark hair; my hair is very dark, shoulder-ish length. Hubby will be home with daughter # 3; he will have been at SLC the evening before, for the Scholar’s reception, and then will go home to NJ with the 12 year old, as she has attended way too many college functions!

I really liked the Purchase kids – but those I liked were in theater, music, dance. My daughter’s choice of philosphy or psychology (even though she applied for Creative Writing, just to see if she could get in – she is very reticent about sharing her work) unfortunately, did not attract the most impressive students.

It was exciting to see Daniel Day Lewis with his son at Admitted Students Day!! Wonderful time!!

Yes…I almost bumped into him!!!
There were certainly a lot of people in attendance today but he sure did stand out…so tall and distinguished and handsome!!
My3 - sorry we didn’t find one another.
It was a rich and fulfilling day. No other school has impressed my son as much as SL. For him it is the combination of the freedom to explore his interests and the exciting challenge to do so with great depth that makes it his top choice. We are working to sort out the financial piece but after today we are doing so with the confidence that it will be worth it. So count him as official and maybe we will meet when we drop the kids off for school at the end of summer.

daisychain…any news from your neck of the woods?

Yes, drae, I did look for you but was not imaging that there would be so many faces to search!! My D had gotten acquainted with several kids via the Admitted Students Facebook page, but she recognized only one in the entire place from their pictures! Hope to see you in a few months!! We feel we made the absolute best choice.

Hi Drae - my D spent a long, good day there last week, and sat in on a class that she really liked. She hasn’t made up her mind yet though - hopefully we will have a decision in the next couple of days.

…Mount Holyoke is looking like a better deal even though she’s a spring admit…

Congrats to your D! Question–my D is thinking about doing a spring admit due to illness, but didn’t know if many schools worked that way. If you don’t mind saying, did she apply for it or is it for some other reason?
