I’m an 11th grader from NY who took his PSAT this past October and received a 1480 with an index of 221. The cutoffs here in NY have fluctuated between 220 and 221 throughout the past 5 years, and I am very curious to know how that will hold out for this year with COVID and all.
When are official NMS cutoffs released? (NOT Commended/Semifinalist status)
It all happens concurrently in early Fall.
Early to mid September.
Good luck!
Edit: If you don’t mean Commended/Semi-finalist status, then what do you mean? What other “cutoff” are you thinking your score will “hold out” for?
For semi-finalists:
(I’m not sure they’re officially “released” but CollegePrep and others collect enough data the first day acceptances are announced to piece it together - usually the second week of September.
They are occasionally leaked a couple of weeks earlier.)
Sorry, I thought state cutoffs and official semi/commended status for individuals students would be released at separate dates.
Commended status is released much earlier than the NMSF status.
Would all prospective semifinalists be given the ‘commended’ status?
Your school will receive a list of all students that made the commended cutoff. Since the list is released way before NMSF are announced, it does include future NMSF.
