When are people notified about FinAid?

When do most people begin to receive notification about their financial aid package?

First week of April

Thank you!

You can check it online this week.

Last year it was first reported Monday after Spring Break.

Ours is online today. :-)

@YaYa How did you know that it was done processing?
Did you get an email or did it just show up on your mystatus page?

Mine was posted yesterday but I did not receive a notification of any kind. I was randomly checking.

haven’t received mine yet :/

We were randomly checking too.

Our FAFSA was submitted 1/1/2012 (several other colleges had 2/1/2012 deadlines), probably that’s why we are among the first.

I believe UT has to send some kind of email or letter later, at least to explain when is deadline to accept finaid and how to do it.

got mine today after randomly checking during class, but i got my ipod taken up but hey i got my financial aid(i got my ipod back)

I haven’t gotten mine yet

Haven’t gotten mine yet. Mine was in around 2/15…so hopefully today.

LOL my status said “Check back in two weeks”

Mine’s said that for like the past month, haha. :p

I called Tuesday because my D’s status showed they needed more documentation, which I had sent the week before, but still hadn’t shown up on her CASH page.

The recording before I got to talk to a live person said they would begin notifying people this week of Fin Aid.

For those who also needed to send in additional documents, the person I spoke with said they are swamped and to give it at least a week before the status changed online. She was able to tell me my information had been received, though.

@UTMom2

I also had to send additional documents, but they processed it in like 3 days. O__o updated my CASH page and everything too. However, it now says check back in 2 weeks…

But the person you spoke to, did he/she say anything about when those who had to send additional information would get notified?

I submitted some additional documents two Tuesdays ago and it hasn’t been updated online. Does anyone know if your aid is worse the later your whole financial aid process is completed (as in my case, but it was still before the March 15 deadline)?

xcloudy, that’s sad to hear. Just like everyone else, we need to know ASAP what she is getting, if anything, because she has to let another college know whether she will take their scholarship offer by May 1, which means a trip out of state to visit the college. STRESS! I am assuming as long as the FAFSA was submitted before the priority deadline it would still be considered priority. The person I spoke with said the documents needed to be “scanned in” before the status online would change and that they were working as quickly as possible. I recommend you call because they can at least tell you what they received and maybe you can get some new info.

mecsquared: No, but I didn’t ask. My priority was to find out about whether the documents had been received. I may call back and ask, though. I do know that a UT rep is visiting our high school Apr. 12 with everyone’s financial aid package. I was hoping to know before then, though.

I received my award today online.
$5,100 in grants+scholarships each semester…
I’m okay with that… That pays my tuition

UTMom2: Thank you! I’m going to call in today. I am on a similar boat as you. I have a finaid package and scholarships from my financial safety school that I need to accept/deny by April 15. I need to sort everything out first though. Deciding on colleges is so stressful!

Wavylays: Can I possibly ask what your EFC was around?

Well went I was asked for additional items for verification I sent it immediately like 2 days after they’d asked and then around 1.5 to 2.5 weeks before they finally said they’d received it then 2 days not including the weekend march 19th they finished my verification and then march 21 I received my financial aid, so in a nut shell I think them just sorting through the papers may take a long time
