Thanks, Kelsmom. I checked the list and S didn't make it.

Thanks - there's still hope, then! :)

i got my letter today, too. 1000...i love lowe's!!

Didn't get it. I wonder what these scholarship contests are really looking for, especially the ones that are solely stat-based. It's just depressing to continue to not get these.

letter in mail today. didn't get it. but that's okay!

me too... but at least best buy came through!

Oh and I don't feel that bad, because I have never even stepped foot in a Lowe's store although there are 3 within a 10 mile radius of me. lol. Congrats to all who won!

I'm curious about something ... did anyone here receive BOTH a Best Buy & a Lowe's? I don't think anyone has posted that got both, but I could be wrong.

jegan3, our experience with these scholarships is that they are a crapshoot. There is no way to know whether or not you'll get one ... but scholarships like Lowe's & Best Buy are so easy to fill out that they are worth the small amount of hassle, even if you don't end up getting it. I know that it is depressing to try & not get the scholarship. It's hardly personal, though, in situations like these ... sometimes I think a lot of it is luck of the draw (especially in these, where your location comes into play). Keep trying, though, because $1000 for a relatively minimal amount of work is a good bet.

i was fortunate enough to receive both best buy and lowes. i think it's honestly just luck of the draw.

Congratulations, page47! I do agree about luck of the draw ... the info the scholarship people have is so minimal.

smathur, sorry about Best Buy ... hope Lowe's works out!

page47, you received the Walmart and a national Elks scholarship, too, right? Congratulations! You must have had an amazing application to get all 4!

I received my letter in the mail today, and I got it! However, I did not get the Best Buy one, so I'm glad I got this...I wonder how many applications they get?

The Lowe's letter said they had 5000 apps for 335 scholarships. I don't know about BB.

S's Lowe's letter said they had 90,000 apps for 375 scholarships  Wonder why the difference?

Wow --- maybe that's what D's letter said --- I threw it out, since it was a rejection. Guess my old mind is getting more feeble than I thought! I was pulling the figure from my memory, but I defer to patsmom!

Ya the letter said 90,000. I was shocked!

hmmm, my letter didn't say a number, interesting. But with that stiff of competition, I'm really happy I got it! those that did not get it should not feel bad if there were really that many applications

I wonder why people receive different wording in their award letters. Did all of you win the $1,000 or did any of you win the $5,000? I wonder who won the $15,000 national prize. They don't seem to post winners' names the way some other scholarships do.

Congratulations to those who made it through the horde of 90,000. That's amazing.

patsmom-thanks!! i was very surprised/elated.

90,000 people? that's crazy! wow well i think at that point it almost becomes random. good luck with any other scholarships you guys are still waiting to hear from!

what is this letter everyone is talking about?

I got one of the $5000 regional scholarships, according to a letter from SPA, but I never got a letter saying anything about applicants!
