If you are going, that is.
Do you plan on going the 7th/8th, the 21st/22nd, or are you there now? lol.

I'm going next weekend, the 7th I think it is. I'm pumped.

GAAP is pimp. Find some one you know (or some one who knows some one you know; or some one who knows some one who knows some one you know) to stay with the nights in between. Then you can find out how pimp Georgetown is.

yeah that sucks.. cause officialy, they cant arrange you to stay a night with a student and I dont know anyone at georgetown

Ask around. Have your parents ask around work. I ended up staying with my dad's friend's son's best friend from high school. I hadn't ever met the kid, but it was fine, most people are generally pretty relaxed.

uh, my parents are coming to gaap...that's normal, right? i don't know anyone in gtown, they havent accepted anyone from my school in a while, so i figured i was staying with the parentals in a hotel or something.

and anyone else from long island going?

It seemed like the majority of people brought a parent, but there were definitely some with two, and some alone. There's plenty of separate events of students and parents so you won't be stuck with them the whole time.

I was in the same boat, I don't even know anyone who's applied to Georgetown in the past couple years (except for the girl who got into Harvard and not Georgetown). Ask around, I can almost guarantee you that some one knows some one who knows some one who goes to Georgetown. And pretty much every person I've talked to said do an overnight anywhere before you make a decision.

i just got back from gaap and wound up staying overnight with a friend who goes to gw, and my parents stayed in a hotel...my friend and i hung out in georgetown and around gw, and it was a chance for me to see the friday nightlife in dc, and even though i didnt get to spend the night at georgetown, i at least got to see what it was like at night in college dorms and stuff, so theres always that option, if you know someone at like gw or american...and btw gaap was awesome =)

i'm going the 7th too. My parents are coming with me, so I guess i'm gonna be staying with them in a hotel. I don't know anyone who's in gtown. Anyone from CT going??

The one the weekend after Easter I think probably. Ironically, I may have to stay with my friend in DC who goes to GW. Hahaha.

i'm also going the 21st and 22nd, the weekend after easter.

Alright just booked at the Leavey Center Marriott on campus...so I don't have to stay with my friend, tho that'd be about $600 cheaper lol. I felt like dropping in on him for four days earlier this year was probably enough to ask for one year, especially when the last time i was ostensibly "visiting" gw, and this clearly has nothing to do with gw. hahaha.

i'm psyched. and no rents means ample opportunity to party it up with the gw kids thurs. and fri. hahaha. god i love dc. and also time to pay a visit to my future workplace, the a&f on wisconsin ave. in gtown, where i will be transferring my position to from my a&f in chicago. hahaha.

and no getting 4.3 semester gpa and "working" 30 hours a week at abercrombie are not mutually exclusive occurrences. i AM the craziest person you will ever meet. ;-)

i'm sure i'm the only sfs kid seriously thinking of having my post-undergrad pre-grad school "work experience" consist of being an a&f manager (at one of our overseas expansion stores opening in europe and japan this year). yeah it's a total cult, but i personally think it's an awesome thing to do with an sfs degree, considering i could never stand to work in an office (hence why i will be a college professor).

edit: wow i really went off-topic on that one.

I'm going the weekend after Easter too. For anyone who has already gone, do they do any specific school (ie MSB, SFS, etc) presentations or tours?

off-topic? nooooo....lol hey, it was an interesting post to read

April 21-22nd...if people are on myspace search me under the display name Fiona Orange

I'm from CT too, and I'm going on the 7th and 8th.

I wish I could stay at the Leavey center... but my parents said it was waaaaay too expensive. I stayed there once before when I was visiting my cousin at gtown and the beds were THE MOST COMFORTABLE BEDS I'VE EVER SLEPT ON! I'm not lying. They felt like those tempurpedic beds or something. ahh heaven

just something to keep in mind.....

careym, they have a few presentations for specific schools, like a dean's welcome and a dean's luncheon that is school-specific...other than that, everyone is together regardless of school...there's an icebreaker too, and everyone is assigned a group, but it has nothing to do with what school youre in

I'm posting from a mac in the basement of the Gtown intercultural center :D during GAAP...this part is boring :/ so I'm taking a break

I went today, and left halfway. I feel like GAAP is more geared toward people who aren't sure G'town is their first choice...I'm already sure it's where I want to go, so the introduction speeches and the icebreakers were nice, as were the campus tour, but I didn't really need to hear deans and students tout the academic programs as much as someone debating if G'town was the right choice would. I will say that I'm sort of excited for the historic tour and dorm tour tomorrow.
