Registration appears to be open, but I don't see anyone enrolled in any classes yet.

I want to enroll in the harder-to-get classes...so when should I enroll? Can I do it now, since it appears to be open?

If I recall correctly, registration for incoming freshman usually occurs in August, though most freshmen actually do it during Orientation Week in September. I don’t think you have to worry at all about getting into the classes you want; in three years here I’ve never heard of anyone not being able to get a class they wanted. When classes have more students sign up for them than expected, they will move the class to a larger venue, add more sections, etc. For IntroSems you do have to submit an essay and be selected, but that has nothing to do with timing, other than meeting the deadline for submission.

Perfect answer. Thank you. :)

Well actually there are some classes that you will not be able to join if all slots are filled, possibly due to limited equipment. PHYSICS100 is an example. Basically, you should worry if you see the words “Limited enrollment” on explorecourses, and you should enroll on Axess as early as possible. However, almost all classes do not have such restrictions, so you do not have to worry too much about it.

Anyway, the enrollment period has not begun yet, so no one can enroll for classes. Also, if I do not remember wrongly freshmen can only start enrolling during NSO.
