I read back in a couple threads here that Tulane decisions tend to be sporadic and almost like a rolling admission system.
I didn’t apply until near the January 15th deadline… approximately when can I expect to here back?

There is absolutely no way to tell other than by April 1.
@fallenchemist I know and I’ve seen this response before and I know there’s no certain answer, Im just wondering about trends or when it tends to be
No trends, no predicting. A lot depends on your qualifications and how they fit in with how the class is shaping up so far this year. I’m not trying to be terse or difficult about this, there is just nothing meaningful that can be brought to bear on your question.
I know that Tulane is super unpredictable with the dates. I had five friends who applied there early action. One of them applied very early and heard back within a month and the rest of them applied within a couple of days of each other. One of them heard back soon that she got a big scholarship, one of them heard back very late that she got in with I think no merit aid at around the same time, and three of them only heard back like on December 28 (about three months after they applied) that they had been deferred. They also think they were deferred because they had no more spots left to give because they heard back so late. I don’t know if that is true or not.
Can’t wait to hear back! It’s kind of annoying that for all of the other univeristies im applying too that theres at general range of dates that one can expect to hear back with the decision notification but at tulane you just never know
Also, I applied January 10th ish, but havn’t gotten any email confirming that I sent my application in or any email giving me details on how to access the gibson portal /:
That’s just not true. Like a great many schools, Tulane promises a regular (non-early) decision by April 1. With most of these other schools that are similar to Tulane, they don’t send out any decisions before the last week of March or so. Tulane just happens to be nice enough to go ahead and send out some decisions earlier. I am not sure why they should be criticized for that, or even why it should be commented on as if they are doing something that is burdensome to the student. It is just a potential bonus. I think the best way to approach it is to treat it like those other schools I mention, which is that you won’t hear back until the last week of March. If something happens before that, you will just be pleasantly surprised.
As far as the e-mail, it can take about 10 days for them to make sure your file is complete and create your Gibson portal. If you don’t hear back by the end of the week, I suggest shooting off an email to admissions asking if they have everything and if they could resend the Gibson access info.
I’m not sure why you felt the need to add (sic) to all of my grammatical errors. I thought my feelings were well relayed despite the quick and casual nature of the post. Also, thank-you for your information on the nature of the gibson portal.
With that said, there’s no need to declare my personal preference “not true.” I don’t think of Tulane any less of a college because of this. I’m not trying to insult Tulane. To me it seems like you are getting overly defensive, I was simply trying to kick off a thread by seeing if any other student felt my a similar light-hearted, non-serious annoyance at the uncertainty of notification. I’m the type of person who likes to know exactly when something is going to happen, especially with something as big as college decisions. Thankfully, at all of the other 8 colleges I applied to, I know at least the week decisions will come out. Yes, about five of those 8 technically say on their websites “Admissions by April 1st” but there is a consistent and predictable trend as to when admissions are released.
Please do not tell me how to approach it. This is seriously a non-issue and I’m not sure why you even felt the need to be so defensive Tulane.
I am not telling you how to approach it. I am suggesting (hence the words “I think”) that given your need for more certainty, and the fact that you cannot have it in this case other than what I suggest, that you take that approach when it comes to Tulane.
As far as the (sic), when I see someone use the wrong form of to/too/two and I am quoting them, it is standard to indicate the error was not mine. Once I did it for that, I did it for all the errors. Sorry you don’t like it.
I am not being defensive, I don’t work for Tulane nor do I make their policy. But what you said is not true. Tulane does give a date, so you do know. Saying you never know is simply not true.
Finally, as far as “trying to kick off a thread”, you actually have rather hijacked it because your posts were off topic. This was supposed to be a place for people to post their results once they did start receiving them. Therefore I am going to split off these few posts into another thread, then merge them into the thread you started where you already had this question asked and answered.
It is standard to use (sic) if you’re some professional organization or journalist, not if you’re just some person guy on a forum looking to uphold his/her own sense of grammatical superiority. It’s pretty obvious you’re quoting me.
Yes, saying “you never know” is true because although they guarantee by April 1st, you don’t know when before then. How can you say that’s not true? All my other colleges guarantee by April 1st, but for example at WashU, you can be relatively certain the decision will around March 10thish. At JHU I know it will be March 28thish. At Tulane, this is not the case, and I never said that was an inherently bad thing, just my preference.
Sorry, didn’t realize that was a results thread, I thought that was just a regular decision discussion thread where people talk about application. That is my bad.
