I'm hoping it'll be the beginning of August because I have lots of things I need to pay for.

Also, I signed up for Summer Session, but with not enough units for Summer aid. Can I just wait until I receive my Fall aid in order to pay for this?

Thanks.

F/A disbursements are initiated 10 days prior to the start of the semester, however they take a few days to drop into your bank account because they have to go through CARS first & pay off all the fees & then the remaining is deposited. This year, they start the disbursement on Aug 10th so a few days after that you should see the eft in your bank account on file.

As far as your summer fees, be careful about how much time passes from the due date. You are given a 60 day leeway for all fees in CARS, but after that 60 days has lapsed from the due date, they put a block on your CARS account & trust me, those blocks are nasty to deal w/. It stops you from getting your F/A disbursement until the block is cleared which usually means paying the balance before your disbursement. If your Fall disbursement is earlier than that 60 day lapse, then your fine, but if that disbursement is after that 60 day lapse then there is a problem.

Have you considered adding another summer class & get summer F/A?

Just to add to luvtolearn’s post, this is from Berkeley’s financial aid webpage:

When financial aid will pay out

At least one week prior to the beginning of each semester financial aid awards will be applied to the student’s CARS account. This will only occur if the following criteria are met:

The student must be enrolled at least half-time,
The student can not have any blocks, and
The student’s financial aid file must be complete.
Some aid will not be ready to pay out so it will be disbursed later. For example, if a loan has not been accepted yet, or part of the loan process has not been completed, then it won’t be ready to be disbursed. (Work study earnings are paid directly to the student, as earnings occur.)

The Financial Aid Office sends financial aid payments to CARS three times per week.

thanks guys!

luv2learn, unfortunately the due date on May 15th for Summer financial aid application for transfers has passed, so even if I add one more class, they won’t give me the aid.

Do you know where I can check my due date on CARS? I registered for this class on June 2nd, does that mean it’s due 60 days from June 2nd. Can I drop it and re-register today (Jun 18th) so that it would be due after disbursements for fall?

Thanks!
