If the admissions office received all my application materials by Oct. 20, when can I expect to receive a decision? How much does response time vary between students, and what causes these variations? Thanks.

Mid december

the website says it starts every other friday from november 9th. is that usually accurate or is it ever earlier?

Red remote -- if I recall correctly, Early Response applicants should have received their decisions by mid-December. This suggests that many applicants will receive decisions before then. Any idea when?

my friend received her decision today.

Stop. That's the greatest thing i've ever heard!

she was a music applicant and sent in her application a month ago

They say 4-6 weeks from the date it was completed, so I guess if you send it Oct. 20, that would put you around the beginning of Dec. Just a guess though...

decisions start nov 9th and come out online every 2 weeks

i think the music dept. is on a different agenda, because they have a whole different admissions process. that's probably why some of them have already found out.

I heard that they pretty much pick the highest level kids first..and send out their acceptances..and then work their way down. So depending on your GPA/test scores..

"I heard that they pretty much pick the highest level kids first..and send out their acceptances"<I don't think that's necessarily true, especially bc a lot of the "higher level" kids don't send their apps in as early bc they want to improve their SAT scores, etc (at least the ones I've talked to). I think they really do try and do it in the order they are received.

We had a admissions person come to our school and tell us that..I mean I don't know but I think in that early admit/notification period, thats how they do it, or so we were told?

I just submitted my application tonight (10/18). Applying with a 2400/4.0 and quite a few state and national awards for academics and EC's, can I expect to be notified of my decision by November 9th? Or more likely the 23rd?

the 23rd or later. they review the apps in the order they are received, and i'm pretty sure a few thousand have already sent their apps in. besides, as of last week, "many of the adcoms are just wrapping up presentation tours around the country, and haven't even begun evaluating applicants yet." (from someone in the office of admissions).

Submitted 9/17....Last item (Counselor Rec and Transcript) in on 10/2

So I hope I'll know 11/9?

My appication was received on 9/25, last item received on 10/17. When do I expect to hear the decision? Will I find out their decision on Wolverine?

ok, it's 6-12 weeks from the time your app was complete! If you completed it on the 2nd of Oct., that would put you at around 11/23. If it was in on the 17th, probably around the beginning of December. no one knows the exact date bc none of us are adcoms. So trust UM when they say that it takes a while for them to process apps, bc they are telling the truth. Sure, you could get a decision sooner, but for the sake of remaining sane (myself included), let's all be realistic! I think 11/9 is for people who had everything in in Sept., probably.

One more thing: they might wait until Dec. 21st to notify you, if you aren't a top applicant. This is so they can see the rest of the applicant pool. Even then, you could get deferred. So you could have submitted your app in Sept., but now know until Dec. 21. It sucks, I know, but waiting is the name of the game unfortunately!

Lol okay. That was more of a guess than a question but thanks for answering.

no prob, best of luck to you!
