When can we choose Dorms?

For those of us that got in ED, we get a kinda 'priority' with choosing dorms as oppose to RD students... but when do we figure out which dorms we may choose? :-S I soo dont want donner.....

Quite a while. Enjoy the rest of your school year and your summer first :)

If you were talking about choices, I think they are New House, Donner, Morewood, Morewood Tower, Mudge, Forbes (I think a frat is taking over it so it won't be eligible for Freshmen), Mcgill, Hamerschlag, Global Studies (The frat DU might be taking over this one).

Although Donner is ugly and smelly on the outside, it's not so bad on the inside. You should be more worried about getting stuck in Hamerschlag, the only all male freshman dorm :-/. Get your deposit in ASAP if you want to be placed somewhere nice like Morewood E or New House.

Oh trust me. No ED applicants get stuck in anywhere they don't want to go.

If you are ED, you basically have your pick (besides the exclusive ones like Mudge, though you might get that too).

I bagged in Hammerschlag... lets just say the guys there creeped the hell out of me... So goals for this year is to get into.... either Morewood (pref) or New House.

But hearing ED not getting stuck someone they dont want definately relieves me. I did turn in my deposit before mid jan... so I was a lil on the late side (making me a nervious wreck)

I was regular decision and still got where I wanted to be. I would say that your chances of getting into one of the non-freshman living areas is sort of small, because they're pretty much all full. This is due to Donner being all freshman next year. I would recommend ranking New House or Mudge, followed by Morewood. And as long as we're on the topic of housing/dining. Be smart and pick the cheapest meal plan. The problem with CMU food isn't that it's bad (it's so-so, and there are about 15 places you can use it), but that people feel like they're always wasting their meal plan, since it is over-generous. Even very hungry guys get by on the small one, and you can always upgrade after the first two weeks if you for some odd reason find yourself starving.

Be smart and get the one with the LEAST meal blocks and the MOST dine-extra (70 dollars).
