When can you sign up for courses?

When can freshman enroll in classes for the fall?

You will receive course information around mid-July and will be able to pre-register for some popular classes (like psych, bio, chem, math, freshman writing, econ, some languages etc.)

You will be asked to complete and submit a writing sample to help with your freshman writing class placement.

However, this is merely pre-registration, and not actual registration. Your registration process is not complete until you have met with your advisor during freshman orientation and she/he signs off on your course selection.

If you are using AP or IB credit to place out of classes, your AP/IB scores must have been received prior to registration. If you have credits from another college (from duel enrollment, for example), you must have an official transcript sent to UR from the other college and you must meet with an advisor from the dept you’re seeking placement/credit in. (IOW, for math courses, you must have your transfer credits approved by the math dept.)

You’ll get a package in the mail any day. It includes the Academic Handbook for Freshmen and a bunch of info about orientation options for siblings and parents. A letter tells you about web registration for freshmen.
