When colleges ask...

what prompted your application with a "why school x" essay, what do you write about?

I know the purpose of the essay is to show you did your research on the school, but how much is enough? Is it considered "good enough" to write about how the general atmosphere made you feel (if you visited), things like certain research programs (no specifics, just the programs themselves), and class sizes?

Should you incorporate any specific research that sparks your interest? I'm contemplating a science major, but whenever I try to read up on current research, I get 2 sentences into the abstract and get completely lost. How can I write about somehting i don't understand?

So, in short, what should you write about? If you already applied, what did you write about?

in short, what interests you about the college- it would often be helpful to mention things specific to that college, but it could honestly be anything. that being said, it shouldn't be a very general essay that could apply for any college, but I don't think they would want you to try to write an essay on something you don't understand

In my opinion, you should write about the majors that you're passionate about (that offered at their school of course). Programs can be included but it must be related to your intended major. And no i didn't apply to such school that as me that question (I did apply to UC school).

Don't write about how great the weather is.
