When colleges overenroll...

A lot of colleges I'm interested in overenrolled this past year. That means they'll be a lot harder to transfer into, right?

actually, its usually the transfers that try for the year that they enroll. For example, at northwestern last year for transfers was like 100 out of 600 accepted b/c they overenrolled for that year. I think it depends on the spots for the year you are transfering.

Wait... I'm confused. Are you saying they accept a certain # of students for 2008, a certain # for 2009? Several colleges I'm interested in are overenrolled starting this fall, and I would try to transfer for next fall. Btw, I saw on another thread you are very interested in Brown. I'm mostly interested in LACs, but what do you know about Brown's academics that attracted you so much?

i am saying that let's say a target enrollment in northwestern's class is 1950, and they enroll 2050 instead for 2009. when transfers who are applying that year in the spring time to enter the following year (same time the new freshman come in), they will take less transfers. in other words, i think it only affects the transfers during the year they are applying. I do not think that since they overenrolled for this year will affect you since I will bet they took less tranfer students and less transfer students enrolled to make up for it.

Oh okay, hopefully:) So how 'bout that Brown question?
