Turn 16 in about two weeks, and get my license in less than three :D
finalllly.

So, what about you guys?

I’ll have to take this stupid drivers ed “course” (where we’ll not learn anything new for sure) over the summer to qualify for the driving test. I already turned 16. So after this summer, I’ll have my license.

It’ll be two years since I got it on June 23rd. It seems like it’s been longer for some reason.

I’m 18 and still have yet to get mine. -_-

I have uncorrectable vision loss that makes it where I can’t pass the vision test. It creates a few extra hoops for me to jump through to get my license that I’ve never bothered to do.

California law stipulates that anyone under the age of 18 can’t drive anyone but himself until he’s had one year of experience.

So no real point to getting it under 18.

I’m 18 and don’t have one either. I’m scared of the learning curve associated with driving. I wish I could just be comfortable with it, without going through a phase of being uncomfortable with it.

^ the learning curve is like a month. After that, you don’t even know your driving.

A while ago. Over a year, I suppose, since I got an unrestricted license (ie, not a permit).

16th birthday

Hopefully, Friday.

Am I the only one afraid of accidentally committing vehicular manslaughter?

I had to take driver’s ed too.
We have it available in North Carolina for any student once you become 14 and a half. At 15 you get your permit, once you’ve had it for a year, you get your license.

Good Luck!

Hahah, I think there’s a lot of fears associated with driving, but I’m sure it’s something you’ll get over quickly. From what I’ve gathered this past year of driving with supervision, I’m an alright driver. I get distracted, and I make stupid mistakes, but I have good reflexes, and I’m able to maneuver around really well…So idk, I really am not too worried about getting into an accident, and I pray to god that it’s never something that severe.

July 26th of last year! Woohoo!
I took Driver’s Ed when I was 16, but … it took me forever to actually finish the hours (I’mt almost 18). Our state requires 40 hours. I did them all only because I really wanted to be prepared and I was such a pansy -_- I was so scared of driving haha. The thought of car crashes and making mistakes was always inthe back of my mind. Plus, driving the other hours with my teacher wasn’t comfortable. My arms would be stiff. My throat would be dry. She made me nervous. I couldn’t practice with my dad often since he worked a lot so that was a factor too. Now I really like driving! Thinking back, I don’t know why I was so worried …

I get mine in mid June. So I get 3 months of driving on my own, and then off to college without a car…

Haha, I used to really freak out about driving too. I think it was like a month before I gained the courage to drive all by myself. I got over being paranoid after a few months, and now I’m all good. I’ve never been in an accident or gotten stopped.

Day after I turned 16 (since I had to get my permit on the day after, since my birthday was on a Sunday… grr.) Which is 2 years ago in exactly one week!
The day I got my license my mom asked if I wanted to drive home, and I told her no haha. I like having her drive me around still sometimes.

Miami traffic is god awful though, which is why driving down here kinda sucks. >.<

Worse than SoCal traffic?

April 19th, 2009 - permit. Three days after my 15th birthday

July 27th, 2010 - license baby w00t

I got my restricted (drive without an adult from 6AM-8PM) when I was 15. I got my full license (unrestricted) at 16.

So yep. I’ll be 18 in June. Gosh I feel old now. That’s almost 3 years of driving. I got my permit at 15 as well…

12 Days.
:D
