So, I'm assuming my son will have to wait til December, at the earliest to hear about whether he was accepted ED. But I'd really like to know if anyone heard sooner than that.

Thanks!

I can’t remember the exact dates, but my S and his friend both applied ED last year. His friend heard much earlier than S did that he was accepted. I think the friend heard sometime in December, my S not until January. I can’t find the exact date we heard, but I paid the admission deposit Jan 23. The friend applied later than S, so it was not based on when the application was received.

My S will be applying to RIT this week, but not ED because he’s not sure it is his first choice and I’ve heard RIT’s ED is restrictive. So if he’s not applying ED, when will he likely hear a decision? Their website says April. Do non ED applicants really have to wait that long?

Last year it appears that people found out in mid-February:

February was when the regular decisions started rolling in. DS was accepted ED into CE, and received his acceptance letter before Christmas. He had to send in his deposit by mid-February.

My son applied in Early October ED and was told that he would hear back from RIT by mid January. To my/his surprise my son get his acceptance letter the Monday after Thanksgiving. He then connected to the RIT accepted students forum on FB and it seems that there were multiple waves of acceptances. Good luck to you and your son. My son moved in 2 weeks ago and is very happy so far!

Thanks Cynpatt. From your son’s experience on the FB forum, does it seem anyone found out earlier than around Thanksgiving?

I applied to CE two years ago ED and I got my letter on December 17th, IIRC. So December is a good bet. I wouldn’t expect it before Thanksgiving, especially considering the deadline for the app is December 1st. I’m not sure that they will send any letters before then unless they see something exceptional.
