I didn't really start worrying about college until sophomore year, and I feel horribly behind.

Ha! Don’t worry, I didn’t begin to think about college apps until this past summer… and I’m a senior! At first I was worried about my lack of a laundry list of ECs, especially once I found CC, but then I realized that I had a few activities to which I had devoted quite a lot of time and effort, and that would show through my application, essays, etc. I think that as long as you’ve pursued whatever you actually enjoyed doing during high school, you’re fine.

You don’t have to be interested in certain colleges per se but just be a good student is all I can say. Get good grades, prepare for the sat, and go out and do so
Fun activities.

I didn’t even realize it was necessary to prepare until sophomore year. I thought just having A’s was enough, but apparently not. My EC’s are still rather abysmal because I never did anything freshman year.

Discovered this website freshman year, started caring/realized what I had to do sophomore year, and started actually doing these things junior year.

The summer before Junior year all I thought about was college. I toured schools, researched online, planned when I should take standardized tests, got on the mailing lists for a bunch of schools, etc. I had never cared much before.

Summer after freshman year

I started taking interest in college in the 8th grade. However, I didn’t start actually preparing anything until the summer before Senior year.

I didn’t do a thing until junior year and I didn’t start looking seriously until this past summer. I don’t feel behind though.

I had been taking advanced classes since freshman year, but didn’t really think about college really until the middle of junior year (which sucks because I barely did anything freshman year imo)… Found this site last summer researching, guess I’m a little late.

Started thinking about college in 7th grade

The moment I started highschool. It was like… Right then and there I was gonna stop getting into trouble and get my head in the game

Like first half of junior year. There was a rude awakening for me when I finally realized that the end was near. Who would have thought I was one class away from making all A in the middle of my worst trimester.

Sent from my LG-VM696 using CC

Halfway through Junior Year. Fear not though. I applied early to ten colleges, and I’m 4 for 4 so far (Rutgers, Indiana, Northwestern, Ohio State)

I got interested in college in 8th grade but didn’t really start cracking down on doing very well until this year.

It’s just…no one ever really bothered to explain how it works.
People at school say things like, “Colleges like it when you’re well-rounded!” and “Colleges would rather see a B in an honors class than an A in a regular class!” so I thought top colleges were far less selective than they actually are. I got A’s and thought I was brilliant enough to get in anywhere just because of that. The only colleges that came to visit my school were local community colleges, and I figured I’d just go to one of them because it sounded easy.

I never really understood the college process until I found this website in Junior year, and that is when I started seriously lookig into college applications. I thought for a long time that as long as I got all As and was involved in some activities, I would be accepted into Yale. Hahahaha, I’m glad I found this site!

I also discovered recently that it will not be so easy to get scholarships as I thought it was. Now, I just want to get enough aid to afford a college!

I didn’t really care at all until 9th grade, I just assumed I’d be going to a state school, but then my grades jumped to an “elite” level.

Since birth.

^yeah what he said
