when did you start studying?

i'm an upcoming junior who currently is freaking out over the psat which is in a short 2 1/2 months. however, i also realize the sat is not far off, either. my prep plan for the sat deals mostly with practice test after practice test, much like the majority of cc advice.

the problem is i don't know when i should start doing the sat practice tests. i don't want to run out of tests months before and i certainly don't want to burn out if i start too early.

so what's your advice on when to start actively and exclusively studying for the sat!

thanks, and i hope that made sense!

Six weeks before the exam. I took three practice tests, none of which were CBs. My experience is different from those of many others, but I just wanted to throw that out there. You don't need to start months and months in advance in order to score well. I took the PSAT cold.

It's different for everyone. How much studying do you need to do? Are you way below your target? Are you really confident? Would you rather study in long sessions or short sessions?

Agreed with Baelor. It solely depends on what level you're at and how comfortable you are with the test. If you feel like the material is rediculously easy, then do some light studying over the course of a month or two before the actual exam. If you're the type of person thats scoring well below his/her target score then you should start prepping at least 6 months before the exam.-again it all depends on your needs.

Since i can't really give you a definitive answer, heres my advice.

If you can't figure out whether the tests in the blue book will run out at the pace in which you are planning to take them before the next exam, you should probably start studying.

^Agreed. Also, I suggest NOT studying for the PSAT. For one, it's only used for NMS and stuff. Second, if you prep for the SAT, you've already prepped for the PSAT as well. The reverse is not true. Start on the sections that appear on both (i.e., NOT the essay), and use the PSAT to gauge what you need to do between receiving the scores and taking the SAT. But don't study for the essay until after the PSAT, unless you are incredibly comfortable with everything else.

Bump...since I asked a similar question about a month 1/2 ago or something.

Good to know that I won't be studying for them, let alone worry about them for like a year and a half.
