I've had acne for a while now, and sometimes my skin has looked great, and other times crappy. Right now, my skin looks pretty terrible. My dermatologist keeps on prescribing stuff that never seems to work. My parents won't let me get Accutane, although it seems like the only viable option to clearing up my skin. Damn....

never! my brother has it really mildly but he's always touching his face. I never touch, rub, or pick at my face (although i never wash it outside of the shower) so I guess that has something to do with it for me.

Did AOM get banned? Just out of curiosity...

can someone recreate what aom said? im so curious.

and i use this stuff from italy called dermomycin -- it was over the counter there and you definetly cant get anything this strong otc in the us! its amazing. blemishes are gone 12 hours after you put it on them.

I started getting it when I was 12. It's never been serious, but I always break out around the time I get my period.

I started to get it last year, and it totally sucked.

Started to get acne around 12. Mother bought me a year's supply of Accutane. Worked like a charm.

oh, yeah, i guess i was 11 or 12. beginning of middle school. how appropriate.

I started breaking out when I was probably around 9 or 10. It didn't start off BAD, but it got there. We went to the Dermatologist and they put me on a tropical gel and a cream -- did nothing for me.
A year or so later I tried ProActiv---worked WONDERS. However; within 6 months, I had become immune and it stopped working. However; by this point my skin wasn't AS bad so I just dealt with it.
We also tried cutting sugar/chocolate/soda/all that stuff from my diet-nothing...

I tried going back on ProActiv-no real help. It cleared up some but not enough to make it worth it. Now I use AcneFree (similar to ProActiv) IMHO it works better than ProActiv for me. It in no way clears it all up, but it helps some.

I still break out around my chin, sides of my nose, and near my temples, but its not that bad I've been told.

I also was just put on the Pill and am told I should start seeing a much clearer complexion soon... So hopefully.

Thanks a lot guys.
My skin is clear.
I was put on this sort of different funny smelling gel.
I worked overnight! It was benzyol peroxide.
Im going to the derm on Wed. to be precribed a new moisturizer, because she said it might dry out my face a lot. And I do feel it drying a bit.
Again thnx a lot!
Kayleigh best of luck for u, I have no doubt ur face will be looking better soon. =)

Whatever happened to that p i s s y man?

i've never had acne...its like...some of us are more blessed than others JKJK
it really sucks though

Roughly at the age of 11. It was at its worst when I was 14 or 15, then it sort of got better. Still there, though...

accutane is good for a while. it can stilll come back. I took the entire cycle or it and I still get flare ups. It is sooo annoying...even though my acne is not what it used to be I just want it gone. Some people are soooo dirty and not hygienic and they have nothing and I wash my face multiple times a a day and to no avail.

After talking to my doctor, I am finally able to be prescribed Accutane. I can't wait to start using it, because right now my acne is damn terrible.

i got it around 12ish
i have some here and there but its not bad

I think I started getting acne around 12. It was probably the worst when I was 15, but since I've been 17 it cleared up.

I've been thinking about going to a dermatologist because I have really deep blackheads and big pores (skin is always red around my pores). I don't know if there is anything for that though. I don't really like all the chemicals in commercial face products, I used essential oils when I had acne and that worked better than any drug store brand I had used, but I don't know what to do about the blackheads.

I had a few blemish here and there, but my acne got significantly worse by november last year. Am waiting until 8-9ish to call the derm today to see if my family's insurance will cover costs.

For people who have really bad acne scarring (or any scarring) and thinking of doing laser surgery/chemical peel/ etc. : try needling instead. Cost wayy less and just as effective.

Got my first zit in 7th grade.
It's funny because my acne acts up during the school year but magically goes away during the summer.

so lucky, i've been clear so far

I'm not sure. I have a few blemishes on my forehead at any point in time, but it's no where near bad. My hair covers them too. I'm blessed.
